Correct. There's a link to 'wordy legal stuff' (terms and conditions) in the email.
Basically your purchases only qualify from 00:01 on 25/9 to 23:59 on 30/9, and only on the webstore and the vouchers are only valid for a calendar month and only on the GW webstore.
And make sure the email address and your ' gw account' are linked correctly or you'll get squat.
'discounted bundles' also don't count, but I'm not really sure what that would be on the GW stores. Its just not a phrase I associate with GW.
and you can't buy vouchers with vouchers.

Remember that to calculate the percentage discount to compare with other stores, you should divide the voucher with the total MSRP value (which is $172 in your case).
That’s a very good point.
The discount is even worse when you consider that you’ll almost certainly go over the threshold rather than exactly meeting it.

I got the £6 for spending £40 email. I'd be tempted if it was a voucher straight away, but doing it like this means the £40 wouldn't be discounted at all, I'd have to buy more once I got the voucher after that spend, which makes me wonder how much of an actual saving it'll be (or not).

It's probably just supposed to be a stimulus package to get people buying. If it was like 20% I would be thinking a lot harder about it. Heck I remember during the Kirby years I could get GW product if I preordered it at 25% off MSRP.I think Kirby era 25% off MSRP right now, considering my plastic pile of shame, is about what it would take to get me to buy something for the near future.
Hopefully people that buy stuff from GW anyways get something out of it?

Seeing many armies have tons of kits that are webstore items that generally have no discount at flgs(who get barely any discount themselves) themselves.
If i want doomsday arks no discount. Destroyers, no discount. Ogor army has basically basic ogres and beastclaw start collecting set as shelf item, rest web only.
Apart from marines not many armies you can build without any direct only items

My guess is that they have seen sales drop a bit due to a lot of kits being unavailable. Giving out a free voucher may tempt people to buy items they do have in stock which are probably slower moving and taking up space.
I notice none of the vouchers offer more than 20% of the qualifying spend, this is basically the same discount you could expect from most online retailers.
The biggest bonus for the customer would be if you were buying items only available through the GW online store

Because it's almost certainly part promo to get you buy more and part market research to see what level of "discount" gets highest yield. So if "$8 for $40 spent" gets the most takers, you can expect more of those in the future.

Just shy of 13%. You get the voucher afterwards and also this is assuming you can spend exactly the voucher amount and not more; if you spend EXACTLY 150 AUD you’ll likely spend the 22 dollar voucher on maybe a character. Otherwise I can see you having to basically count the voucher off nearly 200$ in purchases realistically at best.

How so? I know AUS prices are pretty absurd, but rounding totals off with a paint bottle or whatever doesn't require spending an extra 50.

Canada here, got a 12$ voucher for spending 80$.
I'll stick to my FLGS as I save 15% on all purchases, instead of a very limited threshold from GW to make it not-quite equivalent or worse. First purchase at 80$ + taxes from GW (that's ~15% over the FLGS), then I need to get a 40$ + taxes on my second order (minimum for free shipping) to make the 12$ voucher be worth about 30% in saving to equal the FLGS offering (the taxes on the second order makes it a bit worst value).
Plus GW have like over half their stock unavailable, where my FLGS have near everything not direct-only in-stock.

Well I got a $15 voucher if I spend $100.
Interesting as I have made no online GW purchases this year, I did however make a FW order.
It's kind of frustrating though as who doesn't like saving money but I've just gone through the GW site and most things I'm interested in are unavailable. I'm actually a bit surprised at the amount of unavailable items, probably shouldn't be but I am lol.
Anyway good luck to those using it hope it works out for you.

Basically, yeah. I'm almost certainly going to pick up some Necron stuff, and I'm curious to see what the DG codex has to offer, and somewhat interested in the shape of marines. So there's lots of reasons to save hobby money.
If they'd sent me one of the low threshold savings? Might have picked up some paints and things. But I'm not going to toss $170 at them _before_ those releases for a slight mitigation to a similar purchase towards the middle or end of October (once I have a clear sense of everything coming and what it'll cost).
Opening the wallet now because it isn't here yet would be a weird move.

For data purposes, I also received the $22 AUD for spending $150 offer.
I suspect my best bet is to: Purchase a $150 virtual voucher in order to trigger the offer, then use my bought voucher to make up the difference on whatever I spend the offer voucher on next month? (Leaving the remainder of the bought voucher for future non time limited purchases)
This is about equivalent to what I can do "locally" (including shipping). Plus side, I can use it on GW only items. Minus side - there may not be one I want next month?
Also, it is not as if I need more miniatures...
Decisions decisions...

A company I worked at some time ago regularly sent "X discount for Y value order" e-mails to customers. Said company is still to my knowledge 2nd largest company in the world in their market. While it may be new for GW, it's not new in the wider world, and GW's profits and share prices this year look as solid as ever from the publicly available sources so...no, it's just them catching up to XXI century marketing.

Yeah, it's a lot of hoops. Unless you are ordering something that can't be accessed through LGS, it probably isn't worth it.
First, spend a very particular amount at full MSRP, then you will receive a voucher on your next purchase. Then rinse and repeat for 3 months.
My voucher was $12 when I spend $80. This is not a 15% discount - at best it is 12/92 = ~13% discount (likely less because I will spend over $80 on the initial purchase, and likely will spend more than $12 on the voucher purchase).
In total, if you can access 10% off elsewhere, you are likely better (I would have far preferred a one-time 10% off voucher from GW, to be honest).
