Finally, the result for the 34th League of Extraordinary Riveters Terrain Contest: "Dangerous Terrain", are in. Congratulations to
DJJazzyJeff, who ran away with the People's Choice poll (after a close second in round 33) and comfortably won the judging as well with his "Roadside Convenience" entry. DJJazzyJeff - you are entitled to fly the League’s venerable banner in your signature and have the honor of designing and hosting the 35th round of the contest.
Thank you to our runner ups for participating - there was little between you in the People's Choice poll, and little between you in my scoring. I've presented your entries again below for posterity, in score order for those who care about such things. Anyone who wants their individual scores, send me a
PM and I will send it to you.
Thank you for allowing me to host this round - and good luck everyone in round 35!
Catchya,
Arakasi
DJJazzyJeff's Roadside Convenience, a nod to the book, Roadside Picnic, that was the basis/inspiration for the game, Zona Alpha. Complete with removable roof. (An unpainted Mr. Spock - a 32mm figure - makes an appearance for scale purposes only)
JoshInJapan' Cannibal House - a two-level abandoned building/haunted mansion with removable upper storey that slots into the lower level.
MacPhail's diorama and utility shelf. Is the crumbling cliff-side trail the dangerous terrain, or is it the surface of his workbench, where models have been crushed in the past? (Models shown for scale only)
endtransmission's 15 pieces of track... plus the crater to swap out if it gets blown up - dangerous for any future train attempting to make the crossing. (Seen here set in his existing graveyard table that show Special Forces trying to stop the clowns from playing on the railroad and blowing it up. They aren't doing a great job of it as the whole thing goes BOOM!)
Captain Brown's scatter terrain - will the sharp edges or the Tetanus get you?
