I've yet to see someone try the babysit with a termie squad and win the game. You can't just leave all those points chilling on a back objective.

As other made me notice though, you can't get the RW secondary with Oath and the list doesn't get WWSWF (the usual alternative to Oath), since in that case the attack bikes would be equiiped with 2 MM and an HB.

Which means that the list goes DOTW, EOAF and one between killing and mission secondary.
You don't put the terminators on the back objective. thats what the command squad is for. You put the termi's on a center objective.

The command squad doesn't have objective secure so it can't score stubborn defiance (it can hold a back objective though, or DS to score scramblers or whatever, it's pretty versatile, maybe too much).
Ezekial, bladeguard vet, DW command and Termi squad are all Deathwing no?
So its a Deathwing detachment and that gives the Command Squad Obsec?

Edit: Nvm doesn't apply to the Command Squad it seems.

Possibly a silly question from someone without the supplement, but I'll ask it anyway - do DW Command Squads (and, if they exist, RW ones) not get the same restriction that IG ones do, where in Matched Play you need to take a model-from-a-shortlist per Command Squad?

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

If you have a Terminator Captain then you can take a Deathwing Command Squad without it taking up a slot. In turn, taking a Deathwing Commmand Squad allows you to take a DW Apothecary and/or a DW Champion without those taking up a slot. The Captain is not, however, mandatory.

The Command Squad costs a few more points, doesn’t get Obsec in a First Company and can’t take a heavy weapon unless at full strength. Still a useful unit.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

IG got that restriction added because people were spamming the super cheap yet effective Tempestus Command Squads for deepstriking special weapons. Its not a generic thing for all armies.
Its a remnant from 8th edition where every Imperial army included the 'loyal 32' (2 commanders and 3x10 infantry for a cheap +5 CP).

With the (finally) return to some way of playing combi-wing without Greenwing effectively I just ordered a DA supplement and dusted off my old DW/RW stuff. I haven't gotten far yet on composistion with the new stuff, but I'm trying to decide between choppy RW with tanky DW or tanking RW with choppy DW.

Not exactly what I mean but to get the general idea:

9x ATV's to sit on objectives with Dakka turrets with some bladeguard and DW Knights playing the hammer

- or some Storm Shield Death wing (knights, CCW Termies, Bladeguard) with a bunch of Black Knights running around whacking stuff in the head with their hammers.

I lean towards the latter - 5 Termies with TH/SS is only 15 wounds instead of 24, but they're 5 models vs 3 for model count with a 2+(+1)/4++ vs what a 3+/5++ some of the time?

I'm not sold on the new speeders, but I'm not writing them off yet, the old speeders with MM for tank hunting are also an option. Ranged "tank" hunting is one of the holes the wings struggle with. Gladiators aren't an option due to the detachment restrictions needed to get ObSec.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

We're never going back to a bigger board size. It just isn't going to happen. You can't go back after a change like that; it's bad enough to change in the first place and force everyone to cut their own boards down, if they went back to the large size now it's be a fiasco of epic proportions.

Man, that word "minimum" must be really poorly understood....

nope, it's the nonsensical idea that if the tournaments do it, it's the only/best/most balanced way to do it. The minute the ITC and other tournaments said they'd be adopting the minimum size as the one true size it stopped being minimum and became written in stone as a core part of the game. I would be shocked if you ever see anyone use anything else outside of maybe some garagehammer where they don't want to bother. Certainly not in any pickup game at a game store.

Just like how in 8th the "rule of 3" was just a suggestion for organized play yet became a default rule everywhere since all the tournaments used it
