Hello. I’m a tosspot.

I know nowt about this (and what I do know is probably wrong). But here’s a YouTube channel which hasn’t steered me wrong.

It’s not me. I’m way more bearded and handsome. But critique welcome.

It's a good channel. Looking forward to watching later.

Pretty sure the Leo is still a much beloved mook suit for a lot of people too. The poor thing got annihilated over the course of the series and that only seems to have given it some kind of poor puppy status XD

Personally I find Wing's designs terribly overdone, for the most part, which goes with the feel of the series I guess, but I've never been a fan. I tend to prefer the cleaner lines of many of the "early" UC designs in that regard.

And then there's Stardust Memories. They keep making plamos of those for a reason.

Leo is an excellent design. I definitely find that the Gundam designs that I like best are the ones that would most fit alongside a battletech aesthetic. I just picked up an HG Leo Gunpla a month ago that I should be assembling soon. The color on the plastic is so good that I might give it a matte varnish after assembly and weather it without repainting! I'm sure everyone knows this already, but everytime I assemble a Gunpla (or a Bandai SW kit) I'm very impressed. My friend was so impressed that he bought one to assemble with his son even though neither watches Gundam.

My hope is that we might see Macross kits at similar quality and cost as Gunpla. I'd buy an unhealthy number of those. I purchased a Robotech transformable action figure for my kid for Christmas and it was pretty poor quality. It started breaking almost as soon as he got it and he's pretty light-handed with his stuff. It hasn't totally broke, but he avoids playing with it so it won't break so it's basically a display model now. :-(

Nah Gunpla models are usually obscenely good in terms of quality. Like, there's a couple that have been discernably bad (the original Destiny Gundam kit had a serious design flaw they should have caught) and a few that are very very hard to work with (Gusion Rebake Full City and Barbatos Lupus Rex are difficult to pose at all) but overall, Gunpla are just good.

I love my Full Armor Gundam and Psycho Zaku >.>

For sure.
What really gives me hope for Macross/Robotech is that I recently built a Bandai ATST. It was just like building a Gunpla but without polycaps. Flawless casting, great details, perfect assembly without glue, and sturdy enough once constructed that will definitely hold up to handling (though not play).

If Bandai can do for SW what they do for Gundam, surely they could do the same for Macross!

That's good to know. Are they as good as the gundam kits? Will this deal potentially free these up?

I've got a couple of the 80's (?) 1/72 Macross Battroid kits in my "Mech Attack" forces.

Second hand built kits I fixed up and repainted and a few re-releases of classic kits (Officer's Pod, etc). They look good enough when assembled and work well for wargaming but they need to be static to be sturdy and they aren't up to modern standards.

Dreaming of HG-Quality Destroids and Glaugs....

Basically you have two main types: cheap as dirt rereleases from the original 80s models (which were done by Bandai) and modern, top of the line plamos completely transformable with all the bells and whistles, mostly from Frontier and Delta.

For example, you have these of the first kind:

And these of the second:

At this rate there should be a thread to just discuss giant robot shows in general.

I just want to post more Gundam stuff honestly.

I just started an ExoSquad thread. A Gundam thread is definitely warranted!

Why not, with Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway releasing next week?
