I know, the ork thing is just wiishlisting. and there are some fan codexes that are good I have found some good ork ones, its just finding events where they are ok to use. I get that it is a small team and that the focus is imperium vs traitors btu there are battles in the horus heresey against xenos so would be fun to do something like an Ullanor campaign.

It's never going to happen because the entire focus of 30K is, well, that whole "Horus Heresy" thing. Nevermind that I don't think the 30k design team has the manpower to put out rules for all the various xenos factions.
Pretty sure the entire AoD team currently consists of one dude which ain't great for a supposed "primary product". Ullanor isn't the Horus Heresy though, it's the beginning of the end of the Great Crusade. The Horus Heresy is like 30 years or something after that by which point there was very little in the way of Ork threats. The Ghoul Stars were and still are filled with many Xenos and Paranormal horrors and it was the next big target of the Crusade before Horus decided to Heresy.

I get people wanting to play the Great Crusade and stuff but the whole point of the GC was Xenos getting blitzed left, right and centre by the vast armies of humanity. Kinda takes the fun out of it IMO if the Orks and Aeldari are destined to lose like every single battle.
I mean... but the great crusade was like 90% battles agaisnt all kind of xenos? Whole legions were massacred by xenos forces? I know, I know, it is the HORUS HERESY not the GREAT CRUSADE but how hard it is to say that your marines vs xenos battles are playing during the great crusade?
And if one is playing chaos corrupted traitor marines then during the horus heresy agaisnt a fringe xenos force.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

A new Horus Heresy Starter? Very excited to hear that!
Upscaled Corvus suits in plastic sounds like a dream come true.. but now wtf am I to do with these HH resin beakies I've been lovingly collecting for over a year now?
And can you fit these new beakies into the current HH landspeeder?
I'm putting my entire army build on hold until I see how this is going to develop. No point in buying more stuff if scale creep's a coming and bits will not be compatible with each other..
Spartan kit in plastic sounds beautiful! How bout bringing the Caestus Assault Ram back in plastic as well? It's aesthetics match a beakie army perfectly! Just nerf the rules, whatever, its a gorgeous model <3

its a fair point, it makes it more great crusade game vs horus heresey, I am more interested in that honestly than the heresey. It is a less defined time so more room for making up your own narrative on what woudl be another human civilization like the interects (probabyl spelled wrong) vs the lunar wolves. and other such battles

So find a 7th edition Ork codex on ebay and use that in your HH games?

I've heard somewhere that they've gotten a couple of new writers on board, so there's that. And Anuj apparently worked on several "big" Horus Heresy projects that hadn't been released yet by the time he left - I suspect that this set and whatever else may be coming is part of that. (They were listed on his LinkedIn a "Unreleased Horus Heresy Project" or something like that.) All of this waves hand at the various leaks was possibly supposed to have been released sooner, but Covid, worldwide shipping issues, etc etc have put a big delay on things.

I still have the 7th edition codex, but lets be honest it was one of the worst codexes GW ever made. I think its one of the first codexes to come out and take a army from the bottom 1/3d and instead of buffing them take em to an almost undisputed worst army in the game at the time.

Orks are less bad in HH using their 7th edition codex than they were at actual 7th edition, because the armies which they are up against are much more reasonable.

You could absolutely use the AoD Legion/Mechanicum/Army rules against a 7th edition Xenos Codex but FW has said many times that since the series is the Horus Heresy, they won't be doing Xenos rules which is what that post was referencing.

if they put out a starter box I might actually look into a HH army.

That's essentially what this new thing looks like. You get:
2 characters
30(possibly 40) tactical marines
5 Cataphractii
Contemptor
Spartan
This is easily a 1,000 point army right out of the box.

It's closer to about 1500 to 2000, especially if the Tacticals are kitted out as Legion Veterans. Assuming the box is good value then this is going to be good for starting out, adding in, or splitting between a group.
