Love the fur colours. Nice shading as well. Lovely piece.

Thank you very much, it's the first time I've done fur like that using single strokes technique and I glad it came out the way I wanted it to.

Handy thing of the paints being semi-opaque is that they pick up the underlying colours so they naturally blend as you build it up.

Lovely looking snow. Looking forward to seeing Naggy on his frozen throne.

Back from hols and now able to break out the airbrush. I have 3 days this week with kids at school. Let’s get this done

Managed to get the blue base coat down. After it’s hardened I’ll mask it off and lighten the grey down the sides. Inspired (like entirely) by the colour scheme of the rebel Aces a wing. Will be adding the triangle in due course

Will also see if I can reuse some of the stencils I printed for my Kodiak from a couple of months ago.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

And a bit more progress today. Really happy with the greys and the panel lining. It’s not subtle, but then the gaps between panels are not terribly petite… That’s what comes of printing an X wing scale model at 28mm scale

Reused some of my previous stencils. Likely to add just a couple of red arrows to things before moving on to hairy brush for touch ups and final details. Contemplating what to do with the cockpit. I was originally going to do it black with some reflections, but that doesn’t make much sense as you should be able to see through it if it was transparent. Now leaning toward a solid coppery colour with some gold highlights. I rather like how copper goes with blue.

Engine housings next. I think I’ll keep it simple with a darker grey and with some metallic bits visible through the cutouts.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Quick WIP

More WIP, getting increasingly nervous as I'm getting nearer the end......

All done, been a lot of fun painting this up. Just the base left to do now

Well after a rather difficult week...Wunn-too is all done. Just kept the base nice and simple

As a bonus extra (and if you can read my handwriting) all the recipes for painting Wunn-too

Making good progress, will get a pic of the army up when these are done.

Some may recognise the primaris captain from one of the challenges last year. I figured its about time he got a NMM sword like his battle brothers.

Airbrush phase over. A few stencilled details, but I stopped before it got too busy.

On the the hairy brush for a few touch ups around the stencils, and some metallic detailing on the guns, landing gear, canopy and engines.

Some progress!

Just check out the clean, crisp details on those pilot models. The wonderful definition of the hands and the faces that are in no way terrifyingly small for the heads. Wonderful stuff.

Thank god it'll be behind glass.

Anyway, bonus internet points if you can guess the pilot's name.

The rule of scale modelling says.... no. Clothes pegs are equal to Dakka - there can never be enough .

Some excellent stuff emerging this month. Loving Flinty's A-Wing, and I can't wait to see your speeder Graphite I'm sad that I didn't have anything Star Wars and Rebel enough to join in this month

EDIT: @ms07b3 - Fantastic work on Nagash so far. I think the sort of lead grey you've given his armour is far better than his traditional purple. Nice!

Ok.

So I'm going to explain my thought process on this, such as it is.

The speeder came with decals for warning markings etc. (fair enough, but the onion skin didn't match up with the printing properly. Horrible things) and several markings as seen in the movies - the orange band on the nose and rear of the craft. Note that Luke's Snowspeeder has grey instead.

Now, I reckoned that I could do a better job with an airbrush and some masking tape. I think I was right. But just as I was about to mix up some orange, I noticed some pink that Graphite TNG the Elder had used to do some graffiti on her brick effect wallpaper (with permission, indeed encouragement, with my syphon feed airbrush).

So I thought... why not use a different colour?

Then I remembered Pink Five and Pink Five Strikes Back

Now we know for a fact that Stacy was at the battle of Hoth. She has astute advice on how to deal with AT-ATs, so a good chance that she was in a speeder. And she doesn't wear an orange jumpsuit - she sticks to green - and has grey, black and red stripes on her helmet.

I therefore present - Rouge 1. I'm guessing she got promoted as the only surviving member of Pink squadron during the Death Star attack.

Other than the pink, the rest of the paint scheme is as suggested from the box. It's an easy model to put together - 3/4 of it doesn't need glue, including the canopy which prevents any fogging issues. The number of clothes pegs turned out to be sufficient. I undercoated with Vallejo Grey, added some VERY watered down Badab black to bring out the panel lines and make it look a bit grubby and a light front-to-back drybrush of white. Tried Liquid Mask on the canopy. This was a disaster as the Vallejo is an acrylic-polyurethane mix which stays stretchy after application, meaning it just pealed off along with the mask. Lesson for next time.

Pretty simple, pretty quick, but it'll look decent on display, I think. So I'm calling this finished!

Nice! I like the pink Stripe. I got to say it's not finished though! That thing is begging for some streaking fluid, powders, pencils etc to really make it killer, give it that star wars look.

Snowspeeders are a fairly recent modification of the T-47, and they only just finished adapting them for the cold. They're going to be as hanger fresh as anything in the rebel inventory!

(Also I don't have any weathering materials which aren't rust or mud colours, which wouldn't fit the look of Hoth - cheers for the comments, though )

The trick with using Vallejo's Liquid Mask is to either tape the edges and mask the middle, or (for smaller and fiddly applications) to score the edge of it with a sharp scalpel prior to peeling. It's useful stuff, but I've learnt canopy masking the hard way as you have. It also helps to either whip the mask off while the paint is still wet and hasn't skinned over yet (Which is risky but effective), or to leave it to solidfy after a few days and score it. The worst time to take it off is when it's only touch dry - because that's when it's at it's most rubbery.

Anyway, the speeder looks great! Not sure I'm sold on the pink, but that's merely subjective. Nice work!

Rebel scum, hmm? Well, the obvious choice would be a group of rebels working to take down the glorious rulers of Ulfenkarn...

Proof pic:

For the PCs, I'm going to mostly stick to greyscale, to go with my Gravelords. The only colour on the models will be flesh tones, to emphasise that they're still alive, and a single spot colour per model - this will be different for each character, and will not be red for any of them.

Calling it done now. This a wing is ready to take on the empire all by itself! (Or alternatively sit forlornly on a landing pad while space vagabonds scrabble around it looking for anything that seems valuable and isn’t nailed down)

Painted to look used, but well maintained, so no rust on the super high tech magic space interceptor. The weathering liquid I have appears to be some kind of grungy oil residue thingy. Leaves an interesting effect, but I ended up applying it sparingly, and even then I rubbed most of it off again. If it’s designed to do streaking, then I can’t make it work. It’s a water based thing, so I might need to go whole hog and get some oil based streaking fluid for the next project.

I think I’ll hit the canopy again with another layer of gloss varnish, but I’m recording it as done now.
