I would find this cute but one can buy a large-jar Yankee Candle for £15. What they have there are £4 sample tins. And Yankee Candles are considered the Rolls Royce of candles...

Nailed it!

This is why the smaller miniature channels are far better, they actually have useful gaming content, and not just a personality platform.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

They're by Merchoid.

They have a Friends candle that looks of similar size at £12.99 and Star Wars collections (no idea of the candle size) of five for £25.99. The same company charges £39.99 for Star Wars Christmas jumpers so it seems the premium cost partly stems from how they view their wares.

Well, I guess fools and their money are easily parted. It seems there is no helping them...

Well this is just a disaster.

How the heck does anyone top this for April Fool's Day?

I realise that I am at severe risk of pooping the party, but I am duty bound to point out that one wick per 2 candles is actually a valid fabrication method

Oh heck yeah. It's become a bit of a running joke with me trying (and failing) to get the wife into 40k. She loves candles, so this is definitely going into her stocking this year.

You might poo-poo the price, but it's cheaper than most things I'd otherwise get to fill the same space, and I'm only ever buying it once.

My bosses at work are so insistent I partake of the "Ugly Christmas Sweater" festivities at work that they bought me the Chaos sweater. Amazingly, people seem to like it.

Who ever decided that the bathrobes should be chaos/imperium rather then Ad-mech should be promptly fired. They missed a trick there.

I mean, that may be true for the Ultramarine one, but the Chaos bathrobe? Instant cultist look.

LOL wut.

This would have been perfect for April Fool's. I guess they really are spreading out their branding.

I want to joke that next up are dildoes with 40k logos and skaven burrowing lube, but its not any weirder than 40k scented candles tbh.

No... no. That would be significantly weirder. Just weird enough I would be tempted. Hopefully they come unpainted. I mean, who's going to notice if I toss them into my backlog pile?

Dakkadakka's very own ArbitorIan has done a full review of the candles

So can anyone who sat through all 18 minutes of that actually tell me what they smell like?

The TL;DR

Space marine was was foresty/woodsy
Catacan was similar, but milder.
Tyranid was lemony
Tau was overly sweet, like coco butter
Slanesh was sweet/floral?

They had trouble pinning some of them down, or changed how they described them. Some also worked better when lit than others.

That's...

Almost disappointing, really.

That’s my TL;DR summery. There is a bit more in the video.

But it’s not like we expected these to be the ground breaking pinnacle of smelly candle technology. Each one a finely crafted jewel like object with a bespoke scent encapsulating an aspect of the 41st millennium. They are rebranded stuff if fun tins.

"Somebody" in this case being Dakkadakka's very own ArbitorIan.

It's a very good (and fun) review.

To be fair, that would be very on-brand for 40K.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

I just bought a candle at the dollar store, then printed a sticker called "scent of a stinky space marines gauntlet" and stuck it to the top.

I think my product is superior merely for the truth in advertising.

That's what they get for going with some two-bit factory instead of the one I work in.
