To save this thread, let's recap what is known

July wave 1 contents:
Spoiler:

Remains to be seen if Wave 1 is one box or split by faction.

Except for Strator and Trapjaw pretty much everyone from the Starter and Wave 1 are the main people in Revelations, I do wonder if some characters were fast tracked because of the show (although I'm glad they went with classic snake armour Teela)

Biggest hype: Hordak for Christmas!

Got my copy because.. well I just folded and got one despite waiting on the kickstarter.

So here's a question - do we know any alternative techno-fantasy miniatures out there that would look in keeping with these MOTU minis?

I seem to remember some that looked like Eternian palace guards and those kind of things. Looking to expand my horizons and give my kids some other scenario types - bad guys, good guys, Horde-style robots etc...?

That would be so useful if it didn't come on obvious hexes.

I am all in on this game, I have no complaints except that setup is 10 minutes of complete misery as you try to replicate the terrain layout from a 2" diagram.

I grew up in the 80s and never saw that dino once. The evil guys rode in battle attached to a skeletal dino instead.

I think from vague recollection of an AMA these are for stores only for tournaments and the like but Archon are looking at the distribution of them as there are issues over how stores have used them.

... All came with mini-comics. And they were grim: Eternia was a war torn apocalypse, Prince Adam did not exist, and anything as silly and comic-relief oriented as Orko would have died in minutes- if something as ridiculous as Orko could even have been born in the first place.

When people talk about Guilliman, Cawl, and the Primaris killing off 40k's grimdark, it is NOTHING compared to what that atrocity of a cartoon did to the Masters of the Universe.

I was a pretty grim little kid, and I loved Masters of the Universe until that stupid carton messed everything up. I stopped buying the toys when Prince Adam was made into an action figure.

I'll take Guilliman and Cawl over Adam and Orko any day of the week. I'll still always love the muscled barbarian and the skull faced warrior who were fighting to KILL each other, so that they could steal their enemy's half of the sword and use the assembled weapon to open Castle Greyskull and take over the world of Eternia.

This Prince Adam stuff?

Yeah, not remotely interested.

Dude I was going to say the same thing about the comic's. They are what got me into He man not the cartoon. Those comic were grimdark as hell and I loved them. Same with the GI Joe comics. Larry Hamma knew how to tell a good military story about a elite commando (basically deltaforce) vs domestic terrorists. Man those early GI Joe comics were aces. Learning about Springfield, Abrco industries, Destro setting up cobra commander to die then rescuing him when he found out the baroness was his pilot and would be killed in the attack. Man it was total gold.

This looks kinda neat but honestly I don't want to give Archon money after the crap they have pulled in the past. Its kinda like Nintendo, they got some neat stuff and neat games but I can't get a switch because I hate them as a corporate entity and they are sue happy on the flimsiest of circumstances.

This would be a fantastic game if you can play off grid or make your own terrain. I would love to make a Castle GreySkull. Also with the horde coming I guess that means She-Ra is coming also. Gotta milk that IP right Hasbro?

The models look fantastic, the game looks interesting. I'll see if its available in Canada or maybe get a group of people to pitch in for it. Still giving archon money isn't as bad as giving Palladium books money after the Robotech debacle. (BTW the new robotech RPG Homefront looks alright I don't know if its a D20 game or what rule set its based on but the artwork looks neat. lots of the inbetween stuff that we couldn't get in the main story line but got filled in the comics like Invid War and Invid War aftermath which I just adore and love).

This year saw the release of a new MOTU comic in which the different iterations of He-Man was the topic. Pretty funny actually! You had the barbarian version, the Filmation version and others. And the Filmation one uttered constantly good advice to turn you into a better version of yourself. Annoying but hilarious in it´s own way. The overall tone was mature though. Anti-He-Man, a creation of the 80s German audio play from Europa, kills other He-Men across the Multiverse in order to collect their swords to gain power. Something like Highlander.

You are aware that that CMON has made a similar game as well right?
Don’t know about retail or when it’s coming out but it covers all the stuff you’re asking for.
I don’t care to give Archon any money and I’m glad I don’t have to.
It appears the licensing was split between CMON and Archon with the former getting NA and the latter the EU.
I’m still waiting on delivery of my all in pledge, and looks like it’ll be delivering early next year.
