What chapter are those guys, Tallandra? I get an almost Alpha Legion vibe from the blue/green.

Uploading my final pics for the month of Ascension with my 1:300 scale World War 2 Aviation entry.

No time in the history of aviation has seen such a rapid pace of development and innovation as World War 2, when the need to fly faster or higher than your enemy, or to develop some edge of performance or engineer an ingenious new weapon produced some spectacularly superlative aircraft.

The already cutting edge Supermarine Spitfire for all its much-lauded qualities was at its best at altitudes below 20,000ft however some German bombers were engineered to operate as high as 46,000ft. With elongated wings, reduced weight and a heated suit RAF FO Prince Emmanuel Galitzine's was able to engage a Ju86 at 43,000ft over England in 1942 putting an end to uncontested high altitude incursions.

Similarly on the other end of the spectrum at ground-attack level clipped wings increased the Spitfire’s roll rate making it a more manoeuvrable and more efficient air-to-ground attack fighter-bomber and improving its capabilities against defending Fockewulf Fw190 fighters.

As the technology of war progressed into early jet technology the V-1 rocket. These pulse-jet propelled radio-guided unmanned terror-weapons were launched in their thousands, approaching allied targets at some 360miles per hour, a tall order for RAF fighters to intercept.

One such interceptor was Squadron Commander Joseph Berry of No. 501 Squadron who is known to have shot down and destroyed 59 V-1 flying bombs in his Hawker Tempest V; one of the few aircraft fast enough at the the V-1’s operational altitude to be able to catch it.

So there you have it, some of the highest, the most manoeuvrable, the newest and the fastest aircraft to ascend into the skies of miniature WW2.

Well, it might be too late, but let's see if I can finish these in less than a week. I plan to use them as count-as demon spawn. In the eyes of tzeentch they have ascended.

My original plan has collapsed due to time…I have put together some bits to make a cherub, now let’s see if I can paint it in time.

Cheers,

Been away with work for a couple of days and starting to run out of time, but I think I’m almost there. Worked on some stencilled markings tonight. Left to do are the no step amd rescue stencils, then the name plate for the front wing. Then it’s fiddling with the canopy a bit and sealing it all up.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Totally run out of time this month - January has been a bit crazy, between sculpting for Salute, prepping for Vappa, doing end of year tax, and third quarter VAT, and releasing two new B&B supplements. Non-stop 14 hours work days.
I was hoping to have a go at that Dreadnought over the weekend if I could grab the odd hour, but it needs serious work to prep it for painting; loads of very rough/badly cast areas. And the legs are different widths...

So I'm going to switch to an even older mini! A 1984 Citadel DG3 Blue Dragon, which I've stripped and rebased. I'm hoping it'll be quick to paint, so I may still get an entry in this month!

It fits the Ascension theme because A, it's a dragon, thus bigger and badder than the average geezer, B, because it's got wings, so can ascend, C, because it's a Tom Meier sculpt and therefore the best, and D, because it's finally clawed it's way to the top of my painting pile after nearly 40 years wearing the horrible paintwork my child self slapped on it!

cheers,
Michael

Going on week 4, i am down to just Morty left to complete! I will get some updated pictures after work tomorrow, but here is what i had on my phone!

It was fun getting back into it after not painting in such a long time, but I enjoyed it! Now to finish Morty..

Holy crap! How do you manage to get so much painted in less than a month? I can barely eke out three models in a month and even then I'm usually a day late for the comp!

Looks fantastic, too!

I wish I had the magic answer for ya, I work 2 jobs, and have side work haha. I guess i just try to be as efficient as possible, but Darktide has taken about 300 hours of my life since it released as well haha.

Appreciate the compliment!

I want to enter one more pic of my entry, but deciding on which one is KILLING me...

I'd love to use this, but it's way over the allowed photo limit

Maybe I can come up with another vignette to tag onto my entry before time runs out?

Calling him done. Ascended to relic banner, to inspire his brothers even after death.

Lot of beige on this guy, hopefully differentiated enough. I use the same wash for my bone/gold/robe/parchment schemes, and this guy has them all. Did a little more highlight work than normal to try to bump them up a little from the same mid tones.

Almost there folks, keep up the great work!

Got to some degree of completion. You could go on forever with weathering and nonsense, so I've decided not to Its a new shiny paint job, fresh from the maintenance bay, with just some carbonisation around vents and weapons from post maintenance testing, obviously...

The Ascension. Coming to a 28/32mm battelfield near you as a really big blocking thingy! (Or more likely, a wall mount when I can sort out what might be able to hold it up)

And not for inculding in the final judging shots, but a group shot of the scenery air-wing as it currently stands (anyone would think I like blue...)

Finished my ork nob, ascending his way through the ranks. This was my attempt at "speed painting" and I actually finished him a week ago but only got around to taking pictures tonight.

As usual, there are some stunning entries already, and good luck to everyone still trying to get something done before the end of the month!

Cheers - I've managed to get mine done, due to it being mostly one colour, and only one mini, so it didn't take as long as I'd expected!

So - Citadel Blue Dragon, 39 years old!
