How do you mag your stands for grav tanks? I’ve not been able to get something that works for falcon chassis.

Mostly, on my phone.

Dang it. Got over excited whilst painting the Magi Queen and did the greens on the rest of the primed ones I failed to do last month... Now I have a command group for the contest instead

Given that I'm not going to be able to start working on my entry until like the 12th (got a tournament coming up that I need to paint stuff for, plus a Kill Team league), I'm probably not going to be able to do the Triumph of Saint Katherine as I had previously planned. I'm gonna have to have a hard think on what I'll enter instead.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

I'm really undecided what to choose. I have a Triumph of St Katherine which I could do for the Paradigm theme, but it's a big project and still in the box, not even assembled. I also have a really nice proxy model of an avatar of Lileath for my exodites project, but I need to work out how to do a swirling energy base which is giving me a mental block. I could also go back a couple of months and restart my exodite queen on dracoline. Or I have Celestine who I've been meaning to paint up as my own character for ages...

I'm in a quandary.

Nevelon,

I used three 1/4 inch round magnets(1/16 deep)

I mounted one on the base (using the shorter plug and cutting it down by about 1/8th of the height to make a wider platform for the magnet), secured that with some clear 2 part epoxy for the magnet on the vertical plug. Two more magnets in the hull (I used a 1/4 inch drill bit and hand turned it into the original small hole from above so there was a very small layer of plastic still there between the bottom magnet and the two in the hull), secured those two magnets with 2 part epoxy for keep them from moving.

I can lift the model and have no fear of the bottom magnet releasing. Since there is still a very thin layer of plastic between the magnets in the hull I can spin the model in place to change facing.

Cheers,

CB

Closing in on a preferred scheme for the workers. Progress so far shows the range from “let’s slap random colours together to see what sticks”, through, “I quite like this combo”, and now closing in on “ooooh, now let’s paint the rest”

Preferred scheme so far is a space grey torso, using kroxigor scales to transition through to black lotus on the legs and deep purple on the arms. Head will be a fleshtone base with a transition through to blood angels red for the tentacles, then I’ll mash a plague shader wash over everything

Also on the far right is the scheme I think I’ll use for my hunters.

For this challenge, I'll be (re)painting these models:

These pre-Realms of Chaos were what got me to quit Battletech and start playing WHFB, and remain the paradigm (see what I did there? )of what Chaos is to this day. The three still on their bases came in the blue blister packs of two models, while the remaining model was an early Slaves To Darkness-era release. Stripping off their 40-year old paint jobs revealed just how bad I was at mold line removal, so that's my first job.

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Painting total as of 3/28/2024: 21 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

That chaos champion on the right (bottom) is one of my favourite sculpts of all time! I've still got the pack of combat cards where he's painted up in all his slaaneshi glory! Can't wait to see what you do with him!

Very nice! I just got a Chaos Champion from that era as well as the Khorne Champion with axe and power fist that I'm adding to my Legion entry.

A few days delayed, but I can't miss the milestone.

Slann Starmaster, paradigm of the Old Ones, celebratory wand-waver, and silly hat enthusiast

Spoiler:

Both skink attendants are currently unassembled and may stay that way depending on how I go for time. If things go fast enough, I'll move it from the standard base to a bigger jungle themed display

Best of luck, all.

I had a vision for this challenge… and I am desperately attempting to piece it together. Have I bitten off more than I can chew here….

Only time will tell… this might end up a complete disaster… but here is where I currently find myself…

They beastie dancing on the table made me think of LOTR and the scene in the Prancing Pony can you get a gloomy horror in a cloak lurking in the corner?

Some progress. The Hunters are getting in on the action

I'm back after much lurking!

This month I will try to paint Inquisitor Karl, Paragon of the Hades Conclave, Warden of Damned Souls, Bane of Heretic and Deamon, The Unyielding Embodiment of the Emperor's Wrath...

I finished the build about a month ago and he's been sitting in my unpainted pile ever since, my original goal was the create the most 40k figure possible while looking awesome. I don't know if I succeeded, but I'm looking forward to painting him and making a retinue.

That's a nice conversion. I like the old school flintlock style pistol on the back. The grip is even properly sized for the power fist, which is a nice touch

So, my worst critic came around and gave me a piece of his mind. Now I'm in the process of resculpting Ganjaman's hair because his dreadlocks are pretty dire, and not in a good way. Good thing I was going to paint him last anyway.

Spoiler:

Nice model. He looks to be a little light on skulls for a "most 40k" label, though. Everything else is there. Weapons, armor, rivets, purity seals. Maybe he needs a little servo skull buddy to help out with that, at least a bit.

I'm thinking of giving him some servoskulls on separate bases, and honestly extra skulls made him to busy, my artistic style overrode the 40kness

Not sure what to do for this. I want to do a big model, but seeing how I always DNF I'm not sure its a good idea.

Maybe I'll do the Dung Beetle Ball from KDM to symbolise my work ethic towards painting? Hah.
