Thanks guys!
Been a few days :(
Sorry, but work got the better part of me...
Oh well, I continued on the Manticores by sanding them down
I usually let it run across a rasp first and then across a sheet of sandpaper.
Then I worked a bit on Sir Horaces dog.
The head looks huge, but remember the rest of the body will also receive another layer of muscles and skin (I really hope it will work out).
And I worked some more on Else
She received some details and some clean up
Some of you inquired about a casted copy of the two girls.
I really like the idea, and since they are 100% sculpted it would be legal too. I will start some experiments on mold and cast for the two. I will also try to make an additional head, probably with a kind of fedora
If it's not too frustrating for me, I will try to update you on the experiments
**If you have experience in molds and casting, feel free to contact me ;-) **
Cheers
Klaus

Ah, that's nice.
I was just adding a page to my blog with the projects I really managed to finish:
http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.de/p/finished-projects-cmon.html
Actually not a bad list
BTW, Wazzoo here is a nice spider, mix of crab and spider (as found in my garden)
Unfortunaltely there's not much update wise from me, especially since I had to help my dad-in-law with a new floor,
and I have to keep this little side project under cover...but you know me, I have to spill
My experiments with casting are so far not so successfull, but I don't give up...
Cheers

Klaus, I love the fact that you are looking into casting!
I just want to give some hard-earned advice: The really thin parts of the coat will not cast well. But it's an easy fix, just smooth on some more gs in those areas and it will be fine!
I really reccomend doing 2-part molds, it's more work, and it takes a bit longer, but you get a better end result over the one-part-cut-apart method.
Also, I reccomend injecting the resin into the mold with a syringe.
And using talcum powder on the mold before you pour the resin.
Any questions you might have, I'll do my best.
I'm not the best caster, but I have very recently gone thought the pains of learning, so I might have some good insight, or at least know who to ask!

Thanks guys
Aaaargh!
Sooooo many ideas, so little brain (storage) capacitiy - my head is about to explode
Well, as I wrote before, the WIP forum is having another contest, this summer,
The Summer Of Heroes Contest
and I planned to participate.
For this I went to secret mode and started a diorama with the working title "Can Opener".
The build is done, and I started painting....
but now I lost a bit of momentum and I struggled for the last few days, as another diorama idea crept up and is filling my head with ideas - I couldn't sleep last night because of thinking and planning, and milling the idea around - this time involving an APC.
So, to make a long story short:
Change of plans!
(again! - I really wonder how often I wrote this sentence in the blog)
It will (hopefully) be a duell diorama depicting a heavy Ork walker (the can) and a special IG hero character (the opener) figthing each other.
As hero I'll have Captain von Schneider from the Dencarian III. schwere Jäger Abteilung (heavy Hunter Det.). These guys are specialized on hunting and destroying the heavy Ork walker of the Stachelnschweinz clan.
For this task they are equipped with experimental body armor power suits and jump packs.
The first version of the experimental power armor really sucked
So I went back to the drawing board - literally.
I decided that I would sculpt the armor with PC and then came up with this sketch of the EREBOS XMI Experimental Body Armor.
(Erebos is the Greek god of darkness and shadow)
And after a lot of sclupting (see my blog: http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.de/2012/07/captain-von-schneider-build_27.html)
I ended up with this:
So, what do you think so far?
I'll post some images of the "Cut'n'Crush" Dread build soon
Cheers
Klaus

what i think?... please do something about the eminent danger of letting your head burst... we can´t have with that! ... too much loss on the creativity resources...!!!
as for the Kan opener... i was even sold on the first try... but the second... cool! very cool...i am very interested to see what you build for his right hand... which will be the means to open up the kan as is?... Automatically Appended Next Post: just had a look at your blog... so a bolter? hmmm... i thought more of a powerweapon? tho i have to say that muzzleflash you sculpted looks very cool...

I was kind of confused when you posted your preview version; now it all makes sense!
Great sculpting on this guy! All of the detailing (both the little cogs, the tubes, and the decorative panels) is superb! I love the experimental suit (especially the bulky legs)! He reminds me of the bomb squad technician without the helmet. Is that the look you're going for, the cloth covered suit?
I'm not quite sold on the backpack: it's still a bit too Marine-esque for my taste.
Viktor von Domm wrote:... so a bolter? hmmm... i thought more of a powerweapon?
I also was surprised by the bolter choice. I think I would prefer to see a flamer or, better yet, one of those cool CSM plasma pistols The powerweapon choice would require him to get a bit too close, imho, though it would be pretty awesome to open up a killakan with a PF and then destroy it's occupants with a powersword!
Always love seeing your projects! Keep up the great work, Klaus!

Hehe
Thanks guys,
well I'm going ahead of the actual build post and show you these two, where you can see Cpt von Schneider ripping a new convertible roof into the Ork walker "Cut'n'Crush"
The actual "closed" front
and the "better view" front:
Both are in the Dakka gallery, so you can zoom them.
In regards to the weapons choice, please remember he's still an Imp, though an Elite "tank hunter" unit - they usually conduct sneak attack from top and rear and place demo charges and other nasty surprises on the Ork behemoths - of course if the chance arises, the new power fists can be used to advantage

BTW, I really like the wounded Imp crew member hiding behind the Russ wreck
@mxwllmdr - the current Cpt von Schneider won't - but I have the idea of making maybe a half-squad (3-4 men) in the ERBEROS armor. And if I do, then there is the chance of some mold and casting

What kind of appearance will the LR be making?
Thanks
No LR at all, but as mentioned, I'm thinking of an APC diorama and Dencarians build bigger, so it must be bigger than a Chimera, but I don't want to make anything as big as the HERC or ZEUS...so I will use the LR as a size guide and see what a bulky design I can come up with.
I hope something unique, yet maybe picking up some of the existing Dencarian lines, such as the HERC.
We'll see
Thanks again

No problem at all!
That makes more sense, both that it isn't going in your "Can Opener" diorama and that you'd be scratchbuilding something
