Well thank you all muchly. Glad to see some familiar faces coming for a visit. The Earths gravitational pull is holding for now. I have discovered the cork and sticky tack method of holding models when painting. It's the best thing I've discovered in my life since energy drinks and I'm thoroughly upset with myself for not picking up on this sooner even though I have seen many people doing this. Slow to join the gang but alas I have arrived. Here's what I've got on the table right now.

8 Eldar Guardians, 4 of which are done.

A WIP War Walker. Now on the GW Walkers they've only picked out some of those gem looking bumps as gems while the rest stayed the color of the armor....I seem to have picked them all out as gems...does it look weird...like someone bedazzled a Walker or is it alright?

Took the finished Guardians outside for a photo shoot. The sun wasn't as bright as it was when I took the Ellyrion Reaves pic.

Thanks for looking and happy painting!

Thanks for the comments guys. Haven't done too much in the past couple days. Blew a tire on my trailer yesterday so my 8hr day turned into 11hrs...I was really looking forward to starting on the High Elves last night but alas my bed was screaming my name the minute I walked in the door.

Some more Eldar Guardians.

The leader of the pack.

The whole gang.

This guy is pretty much done, just finishing up the base.

And here's what's next on the table awaiting the sensual caress of my brush.

The High Elf Swordmasters from the IOB box set.

And some Sea Guard.

Thanks for looking and happy painting!

Well hello old friends. It has been quite some time since I've been here. In the past 3 years since my last post I have moved to a larger house, gone from 1 kid to 3, and started a hobby business in my basement breeding ball pythons. Wasn't doing much modelling or painting. However recently I had been wanting to focus more on my models and while confined to the couch feeding the baby I decided to take a look at e-bay as sometimes there's some interesting stuff on there. And to what do my wandering eyes see but a treasure that I could not pass up; a treasure worth every dollar from the horde of dollars I had to sacrifice to get it. BEHOLD!

5th edition fantasy boxed set new in box still shrink wrapped! When would one find another of these!? I struck like shark on seal.

And alas I will need to rearrange my unpainted model cupboard a little to accommodate it but it's worth it. It's SO worth it.

I just had to share this with my fellow modellers as everyone in my day to day personal life doesn't really get it. I am the only modeller/painter in my social circle....well...more like social dot, but you get the idea.

Thanks for looking and happy painting! I really hope to be back on here much more often with some more completed product.

Those Eldar have a nice striking scheme, and that is a great ebay score. Sadly, I would not enter a basement full of ball pythons even to see such a wonder.
Welcome back though!

Lol. Don't worry kestrel. The snakes are in the basement, my modelling area is upstairs. You would be safe. My sister-in-law has progressed from refusing to enter my house to going no further than the kitchen which is cool with me cause now we can play Cards Against Humanity here.

Nice. That was my first Warhammer edition too. 5th edition actually, not 4th. 4th had the plastic elves and goblins.

up to page 9 in your blog now. I haven't had much time to get online lately. I'm looking forward to seeing your more recent stuff, and for my comments to be more timely (instead of 6 years after the fact). I already commented on my own blog that I like your paint jobs on your minotaurs and khorne berserkers, but now I've gotten to some very impressive skaven. My favorite part is the black eyes with the white dots for eye shine. They look great. I'm always bothered by how bug-eyed some models I've seen in the past, look with the really white eyes and a black dot in the middle.

I very much appreciate you taking your time to read my blog Syro_. I know there's a lot to get through. The Skaven are an ever continuing project cause, yay horde armies but on the table right now I've got a mix of High Elves, Lizardmen and a massive dragon from Vampire Counts I think it is.

We took the whole day yesterday to reorganize the living room and I got a massive desk upgrade. Now not only can it hold my computer, printer and painting area, it has my next in line painting projects, my trading card collection binders, my snake keeping record binder and my trusty canister of Lysol Wipes. Them darn children be booger magnets I tell ya.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So here are the Orks as they currently stand. I really don't think much has changed from the other pic of the army I found in my gallery except in the current one I'm down one Deffkopta as it got broken on it's stand in the move. Need to drill it out and fix it but I'd so much rather paint...

I have still more Orks in my cupboard of boxes that I haven't even assembled yet so it shall grow more in the future.

Wow that desk sounds pretty amazing, and huge. I like your ork army. It's fun seeing your stormboyz and Kaptin Badrukk (sp?) again, since they are from the part of your blog I've read. I don't recognize your non-assault on Black Reach warboss, is it from a specific kit? Kitbash? He looks cool. My ork army may be bigger, but yours is certainly painted more nicely

I don't kitbash. I'm much too unimaginative for that, but I can't remember a) which is from Black Reach and which isn't and b) where I got the other one from. It's been so long.

So here's my desk. My other desk was half the size with no top part and no drawers.

My wall shelving unit that I love. Has a few other things other than models but those will vacate when I need the space.

And what I'm working on right now. Gor Bok WIP.

Not much to look at just yet.

I'm also finishing up the last of this current unit of Lizardmen Skinks. Just have highlights and basing to go then I shall post a pic of the finished unit. Also realized I have a WIP pic of my High Elf Swordmasters on here. They are done. I will post up a pic of them hopefully tomorrow. Tonight is not looking like a terribly productive painting night. When the 7mth old starts crying, the 2 year old starts and vice versa. >_<

Thanks for looking and happy painting.

Thanks boundless08.

Ooh boy do I have a few (9) pictures for ya'll. I will start with the finished ones and the show WIP. Onwards and upwards!

Finished my Lizardman Gor Bok friend. I am very happy with this one.

Then we have the skinks that my friend gave me a while ago. I would be excited I've finished all my skinks, but there's 2 more units in the old boxed set that I just got from ebay. Thankfully they're quite simple to paint.

And now we have the High Elf Swordmasters. I finished these many many a moons ago, but I never posted them so here they are.

And now some WIP High Elf Sea Guard in various states of completion or lack thereof.

And a WIP griffon lord guy. The lord guy is still not even started.

Thanks for looking and happy painting!

And for the rest too, yeah.

The body and claws on that griffon look great. The rest looks good too of course, but the natural colours on those parts really stand out to me.

Now to go off topic (it’s your fault, you started it! ). Breeding anything cool? I’ve got a Black Pastel possible het Albino that I want to put to my 3 girls, a Butter and 2 normals, all het or possible het Albino. There’s a lot of literal and figurative eggs in the basket with the male’s het proving out.

I just finished catching up on your blog, sorry this comment is about years ago, when the comment I made 3.5 hours ago is about recent stuff
I really like anything high elf that you paint, be it model or sailing ship, I hope you have more to be painted. I also really like your Malifaux bear. Nice use of your white on black eye painting technique. The second shot felt like the bear is staring right into you, creeped me the heck out (shows how well it was painted).
Awesome score with the Warhammer Fantasy box set, I can't believe it was still shrink wrapped. I'm looking forward to seeing you paint the contents.

Syro_ Thank you so much for taking so much of your time to get all the way through my thread. I really appreciate it! The Malifaux bear was a blast to paint. One of the few times I've painted a model from start to finish in one sitting. I have a few more High Elf stuff to do but not much. I love High Elves but find them to be quite time consuming as I feel the paintjob needs to be really crisp otherwise the regal feel gets lost. The old Fantasy boxed set I found was pricey but with it still in shrink wrap and all I just couldn't say no.

kitbashermagos - Thank you for having a skim. Probably the least painful way to make it through the thread. And thanks, glad to be back.

amazingturtles - Lizardmen were my first true army with more than just a single unit and I love reptiles so they have a special place in my hobby heart.

hungryp - Thanks for kind words on the Griffon, but keep it mind it's still WIP so I hope you still like it when all is said and done.
As far as BPs go I have 5 pairs this year. I have a Pinstripe to Normal, a Clown to Proven Het Clown, an Enchi to Lesser, a Pastel to Spider and Piebald to Genetic Stripe (double hets for the win). I'm also casually pairing my Motley Boa and my Hypo Boa but not trying to hard with them as my main focus is Ball Pythons. It's super exciting for me to find another snake keeper on here. Black Pastel Albinos are smokin'. I don't have either of those genes but hope to eventually find them. If you get some eggs maybe I'll buy something off you.

Now on a new note, I finished High Elf Sea Guard guy but I'm not sure about the color of the spear shaft. I painted it white, but I'm almost thinking it's too much white....should I paint it brown, grey or some other color or does white look ok? Would really love some feedback on this as I'm very undecided. I don't really want to do a test model either as getting white over brown is a pain in the butt. Thoughts?

Thanks for looking and happy painting!

Well, judging by the rest of your work, I doubt I'll be disappointed by the final product on the griffon.

Those are some nice pairings. I like the stripey stuff and love (!) Pied. I'm hoping my Butter has Enchi hiding in her, but that may be wishful thinking as she came from a well-established breeder who I assume would know if it might have been in the mix. I'm really hoping for a Black Pastel Albino, but I'll be happy with any white and yellow, or a Black Pastel Butter. Three gene's the dream.

I have a Spider Het Pied I'm growing up that I produced to go back to my Pied to make some Spieds which is one of my favorite morphs. Unfortunately she is a SUPER picky eater. Like 2 years old and 300 grams picky. She's getting on my nerves but she's pretty so I put up with it.

I think the white on the spear shaft looks fine, but I can see how you might feel it looks unfinished if you leave it white. Are you going for a wood look probably? I'd keep it light, like a really light beige or tan

Love the Seaguard- terrific work! Nice, crisp colors and the eyes are fantastic- I'm always looking for examples to try to emulate, as this is an area of low skill for me, and I want to get better. I kitbashed a unit of Lothern Seaguard (the Lothern Harathoi- Boundless Stormbringers) back in the mid-90's using parts from the spearmen and archers plastic boxed sets, plus some OOP spearmen. Thy were a lot of fun, although yours look much more finished, with really good paint and detail. I've been through your whole blog now, good work all around.

I look forward to seeing more!

Syro_ - Oh I'm so torn. I'm heading to my FLGS in a bit here to grab some colors for my hubbys Tau so I might try to find something light for the shaft. All I have that's light is Bleached Bone and I don't think that will quite go with the rest of the paint scheme. I don't have a very good color wheel in my head so "road blocks" like this give me headaches and make me end up taking 3 year breaks...

Meer_Cat - Thank you so much for making it all the way through. You're much too kind. I quite dislike eyes cause when I'm trying to paint them is when my eyes decide they don't want to focus anymore. I'm hoping to have much more in the future if I can figure out this stupid shaft color.

Thanks inmygravenimage. Good to be back.

So unfortunately I haven't done much over the past couple days. The littlest guy is teething and needs lots of cuddles But I'm still hemming and hawing about the spear shaft color. I painted one a light grey. Does it look unfinished? I am leaning towards white though. Thoughts?

The grey spear shaft. Don't worry. The rest of the model hasn't been finished yet which is why it looks a little rough.

And the grey and white side by side.

Thanks for looking and happy painting!

I realize with the little guy teething and the time of year, it's going to be hard to find hobbytime, but I hope you are able to find time to paint. I hear you about about road blocks stopping you from finishing projects. I'm constantly wanting to start new ideas I have, so a lot of unfinished stuff gets left lying around. Some of the very first projects I started on are still unfinished.

I still like the look of the white spear shafts, and I hope I didn't make you second guess yourself. With your painting skills, does your husband ask you to paint his Tau for him? (just curious)
