What does the DW Champion look like stats wise?

What does the Halberd of Caliban do?

The problem is it's a lot of plastic we can't use. GW is saving money by combining kits and charging us for the cost of 1 squad, + bitz for 2 more.

It's getting a bit annoying.

Huh, different strokes for different folks I guess. I love having the extra bits and would easily and readily pay 60 USD for, for instance, a Terminator box with bitz for both Assault Terminators and regular Terminators inside rather than the current 50 USD for one or the other. One of the main reasons I play 40k is for the awesome level of customizability that GW has to offer and "dual kits" with parts for multiple units is great for this.

The Immortals/Deathmarks and Lychguard/Praetorian boxes, for instance, are so good bitz-wise that I would probably buy one of each if I started Necrons-- even before I actually considered using Immortals, Deathmarks, Lychguard, or Praetorians!

Not going to try convincing you as it sounds like you have your mind made up, but I felt like I got my money's value out of the kits.

Regarding the plasma guns on the bikes, they are different than the regular bolters that have been coming on the bikes, the front of the bike is the same style as the DV set and where the bolters attach is notched instead of pass-through. I think with some clever cutting I will be able to take a bunch of the extra plasma pistols I have lying around and put them onto the extra bikes I have. The plasma guns on the bikes are pretty small, about the size of the plasma pistol.

DW Champion is the same stat line as a regular terminator but with a WS 5. Halberd is +2 Str 2 AP with Special Rules Bane of the Traitor (1 better AP against CSM) and two handed.

Champion is command squad? Is he a character?

Are DW Knights characters? Is the Halberd unique? DW Knight only or can Terminators take them too?

ATSKNF lets you not get swept (or rather you just get re locked in combat) right? So with stubborn instead of ATSKNF (or fearless for terminators) this edition, does that mean that tac marines and terminators can be swept and killed if they fail morale?

The regular TACs have Stubborn and ATSKNF.

The Champion is Command Squad only, one command squad per HQ choice wearing terminator armor so if you wanted two command squads you could take Belial and a Interrogator Chaplain or Librarian in Terminator armor.

It appears you can have one Champion per command squad as it doesn't say "one command squad in the army may... " as it does for some other options in the Ravenwing command squad. Halberd is Champion only. The Apothecary and Champion are Characters in the command squad, in the Knights squad only the Knight Master is a character.

What about terminators? They have stubborn now right instead of fearless? They still have ATSKNF I presume as well?

But do note, for what it's worth, that they have a special rule allowing them all to make precision attacks like they were characters.

Actually technically the Ravenwing Command Squad doesn't say "one command squad in the army may" either, and I suspect it might end up being a point of contention because of it's wording, it says "One Ravenwing Black Knight in the army may be upgraded to the Ravenwing Champion", It seems likely that the intention of the wording there is "only one command squad can have a Black Knight Champion" but the "in the army" phrasing seems like it could also be taken to mean, any Ravenwing Black Knight in the army can be upgraded, even if he's not part of the command squad.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Inner Circle units are Fearless, this includes all terminators, Ravenwing units have lost fearless and get ATSKNF and Stubborn now instead.

I did mention the rule in a previous post, in the interest of answering questions directly I haven't been including every single thing in a post. Sorry if it was confusing. Yes the knights all can make precision strikes on a 5+ roll to hit.

Don't really want to get into rules discussions, just trying to answer questions for those who are curious. I am sure there are several things in the book that will end up in YMDC soon anyway.

Yes, sorry. misplaced comma made it look like I was saying all command squads. Was trying to say Deathwing units as well as their command squads. Sorry for the confusion.

Deathwing Knights are melee only. They have WS 5 to reflect this, as well as weapons unique to the knights.

Ravenwing Black Knights just get the plasma talons and corvus hammer, for every three models one can take a grenade launcher instead of the plasma talons.

Still can't get over the fact that the Terminator with Cyclone doesn't need his left hand to use the targeter.

Still can't get over the fact the Deathwing Command Banner guy isn't holding the banner in his hand, instead it's strapped to his armor. Where's the heroism in that?!

STILL can't get over the fact they haven't resculpted Azrael AGAIN, for two editions now! (The "new" back banner doesn't count) He was smaller than 40K2-era marines when he was first released, for crying out loud.

All the Ravenwing flyers look like garbage, still can't get over the fact the wing symbol is molded in.

The new Landspeeder variants look terrible.

In both cases, whos traps a giant rock to an air vehicle?! That's dumb, even for 40K

Still can't get over the fact that they ran DA painting guides in the latest White Dwarf, instead of the one before that. They wanted to push the ipad version, I'm sure. I heard it was mediocre.

Belial looks okay, but his arm should be out more

The new super-duper Terminators look great. I'd buy them, but the cost is off the chain, even with a 20% discount

I can't tell the difference between the new super-duper bikers and the normal Ravenwing bikers.

The new Terminator Master looks okay.

Looking for the Empire spearmen from the Warhammer sixth edition box set (empire vs orcs) Must be unpainted and in good condition. Also looking for MIB Empire State Troops boxes.

Looking for Battle for Macragge and Black Reach Tactical squads, unpainted and unassembled.

I got a Deathwing Command Squad box in hand. Holy Christ this box is great for a Deathwing player. You'll choose one of the two new Deathwing squads to build and then have parts left over to build up (dark angelize) about another squad and half of the guys you've already got. There are two sets of should pads for the right arm (one more distinctly veteran than the other) so you can start replacing the blanks you may have your existing ones. More storm bolters than you can shake a stick at too.

@Chris_Valera - the DW command banner can easily be modded to go in hand. I've got a banner pole (from a PA command squad kit) in a hand of one of my Terminators. The banner in the kit will look nice on him with a little work.

You forget that a Space Marine is "plugged" into his armour thanks to the Black Carapace (The Interface, a natural part of a Space Marine added by his gene-seed) and a Space Marine's helmet has an inbuilt targeting array.

He can control the cyclone missile launcher with his brain.

You realise it's been that way since the plastic Termies came out years and years ago?

The last Cyclone model that had a targeter hand was from 2nd Ed.

Can you provide pictures or info on the Deathwing Knight hooded heads, I'm curious if the back of them is complete enough that they could perhaps be used outside Terminator Armour or if I should look elsewhere for a hooded head for my Power Armour conversion.

@Drunkenspleen 1 of the 5 heads is molded into the vet's front torso. The other 4 are complete and could go on PA bodies, but I don't think they'd look just right because the hoods are swept very forward to fit in the terminator "head hole." So if you imagine a bald marine head.....pulling the hood forward so the back of the hood is flush up against of the back of the head. That's the way the look to an extent.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As opposed to the hoods that come with the PA vets. Those are much more neutral in position....some hood in the front of the head and some hood in the back of the head.

great thanks, I'll probably have to try it myself before I know if I like it, but I can at least wait on trying to buy a hooded head off ebay for the time being.

You know, if that's what you're going for you could get the look you're after with just a bit of green stuff added to any one of those command squad hoods..

As opposed to the two force commanders the released back in the 2007 run. Both of those PA's were absolutely huge. I was really surprised that Az didn't get a resculpt. I was kinda hoping he'd get the Calgar treatment with PA and TDA....but he's got artificer armor in this edition and a ++ save for him and his squad, so he's set pretty much set up. Can't have a TDA command squad, but oh well.
