Hey all, I’m kinda bummed out on this forum right now. So much bickering and salt and actual hatred being posted. Done with it, really. I spend more time reporting than posting, and several repeat offenders keep poisoning threads until they collapse. I don’t find joy and positivity here anymore.

I got curious, so I looked at your post history to see where you were encountering all this negativity.

I wonder if there's a pattern. I'll try to puzzle it out...

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Crazy thought, wanting to discuss 40K on a 40K forum, eh?

Not gonna be doing that for a while as it’s just dispiriting. Found it better for my health to just... not.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"

I pretty much just stay in the P&M section here- I've enjoyed your work immensely and it has motivated/inspired me to try to emulate it in smaller ways.

In some ways I'm a Rip Van Winkle as regards 40K: I started playing almost from the beginning, in the late 80's (before there were even any vehicle kits and not many figures) at the time that Rogue Trader was really becoming Warhammer 40,000. Perhaps my experience was atypical, but everyone I gamed with in barracks and at the shop was focused on developing our understanding of the game and working out aspects that weren't covered or at least weren't immediately clear. It was a blast and non-GW figures and especially vehicles were common- the objective was game and have fun. I was a scratchbuilder and kitbasher from the start.

Then real life and other things interrupted and I was away from the game for two decades. I came back to find the Imperial Guard was into Edition 6 (I missed everything in between and that 7 was due imminently. And suddenly the model on the table had to exactly match the character profile- right down to the pistol holster and where it was carried. I very much wanted to learn the new rules, but haven't really exerted myself to play much, focusing on bashing, scratching and painting.

I know that rules discussions can get contentious and there are many hotflash world issues that have people very polarized at the moment. I come here to hide from that- I deal with it all as part of my day job.

I hope you keep posting pics here though, selfishly, as I don't have an Instagram account!

See you when I see you- good luck and have fun. Rock on!

I don't mean to pile onto your woes, but in my view we're dealing with three things:

Terrible wargaming rules
A moneygrubbing company
A system to deliver a premade gaming experience that results in customers who are not only conditioned into buying constant rehashes and not figuring things out for themselves, but who feel entitled to all that.

Add a dash of spectrum. Mix well. Retreat to a safe distance.

I get it. I used to be a salty little cuss about 40K and it wasn't all that cathartic. It's been much better since I gave that up. I get that this forum is focused on 40K and other games take a serious back seat, but I don't come here for that, I come for the models. Model news, model discussions, model showcases about plastic praetorians and ork monowheels. That's why I wondered where you saw all the bickering. Eight(!?!) 40K boards and I don't touch them. Except maybe the 40K background board, but then I watch a bitter, heated debate on whether or not tyranids eat rocks, I get a whiff of what you're talking about, and I just avoid it for a while.

Avoid it for a while. P&M blogs will still be here.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.
