There's a couple of older rumour engine pics that are probably the Deepkin WHU warband, I expect to see those on Thursday. Some other pics could potentially be Delaque models too.

I had a look at WarbossKurgans summary and there is definitely a bit of a rumour backlog building up. Five images are either over a year old or close to it. It would make sense to see a couple of them revealed soon. Crab claw and bone flute maybe?

Whatever happened to the bug people army rumours? Were they quashed?

Yes. The insect egg thing is a decoration for a Sylvaneth unit. So no bug people, just more ghost tree elves.

Since the Silent People are still part of the fluff, presumably one of their (Squigeating) totems is on the Kragnos base and Kragnos' rebirth has possibly destroyed the beastgrave it is still possible that they will get miniatures in the future.

I think that if we were to see a new race rise it would almost certainly be members of Kragnos' race.

In fact, while I think the odds still favor it being related to chaos due to the horse shoe, there is a rumor engine pic of a leg and hoof.

Finally the long overdue Guard revamp. All Cadian models get replaced with ratlings.

Given Cadia is dead and the guard tend to shed men like a husky sheds in summer, I don't see how long Cadian regiments are going to exist before they literally go extinct...

So a new regiment of ratlings makes total sense as a replacement.... :p

Cadians have been seeding the galaxy with colonies by means of vets retiring out and being granted settlers rights for thousands of years at this point, and of course the Cadian pattern equipment is highly popular.

I'm the first in line for a re-imagined guard ala Jess Goodwin's greatcoat guardsmen, plastic vostroyans or something based on the Elucidian Starstriders...

... but there's plenty of reason to keep the cadian design if people want to.

To me Steel Legion would make the most sense as they are one of the most renown (and numerous) regiments on a planet that hasn't had contact lost with it.

But honestly any plastic Guard infantry box sculpted to modern quality (or even the quality of the Cadian and Catachan command squads) would be a huge step forward.

Plastic Goodwin Greatcoat Guardsmen would be my favorite!

I do feel like GW is just keeping Guard around to be able to release BL novels and occasional awesome limited release minis (or sets like the Ghosts). They haven't had any new kits added to their main line since the Ogryns/Temptestus/Taurus in 2013 or 2014. It would be a super easy product line to revamp. You literally need one plastic Infantry box and one plastic heavy weapon box and it would be fantastic.

You all know that if GW ever makes new IG plastics it will be a newly made up regiment that's going to be stylistically abhorrent specifically to make it hard to proxy

I hope that isn't that case and they do an existing regiment. However, I wouldn't really be surprised if that was the case.

Unfortunately most of the existing regiments are essentially “x historical, iconic, army IN SPAAAACE!”, so I don’t think they’re going to use any of them as the core for a rebooted guard range. Also, given that the Blackstone Fortress cultists are heavily based upon the Cadian style (nicely resculpted IMHO), I think the Cadians are going to be with us for a while.

Good point, that said if they look as good as the Traitor Guard in BSF I would be very pleased with them.

To be honest, the command and heavy weapon squads for both Cadian and Catachan armies are still perfectly serviceable.

As are the tanks.

I think where the range is let down is in the basic infantry squads for Cadian and, especially, Catachan.

It's weird to see how much empty space there is on the sprues compared to modern GW kits.

I'd be happy enough with updated infantry for Cadian and Catachan (so just 2 boxes) along the lines of the Necron Warrior update.

In other words, they are better minis but still look OK next to older ones.

There would be enough space to also include veteran upgrades (heads etc) in the basic infantry kit.

I’ve said my thoughts on them before.

But to me, Cadia May be gone, Cadians May soon be gone.
But Cadian pattern armour is the most used in the galaxy, and it’s not just made in one place, but all over, they wouldn’t stop making it just because Cadia is gone.
Just a namesake now.

Ngl I feel like blowing up Cadia was done so they can make new Guard that's enough er, "distinctly" looking and named that they can get more reliably mad at 3rd parties

Yes, the whole point of blowing it up must have been to get a chance to start over with a new aesthetic, right? Why blow up Cadia if everything stays the same?

Then again, I thought that the Vigilus campaign would bring the introduction of a new AM force, but that whole campaign seems to have been lost in the memory-hole, and instead they made 9th, and started doing Catachan characters (my least favourite AM regiment, never been a big Rambo fan), so what do I know...

Ironically, we can get some GSC boxes, to get some variation to the guard line.

So, It should not be that hard for GW to make some alternative infantry.

I like that the squig has a skid-plate under its chin for when it stops and has to ground it’s face.

No, it's the bomb squig. The rumor engine wheel doesn't have shocks like the big quighog wheel does

Also, the hub nut is an external hex; the big one on the squighog boy is some sort of internal socket.

Yeah. Kragnos shares quite some design elements with the Ogroids & there's some lore overlap, too, with the Ogroids having apparently been kicked out from the Destruction alliance after ticking off Gorkamorka - which seems also in line with Kragnos' interests - but he'd need to convert them back for Chaos which does not really seem like something happening in Warhammer universes :p
