Back in the English morass

I have started a couple of small Warzone armies, currently Imperial and Bauhaus, and my progress so far has been pretty slow. In the fine tradition of self motivation I have decided to start a Plog to try and get them finished sometime this year.

Apologies for the photos, my son killed my camera so I am forced to use my phone. They turned out all right though.

Nothing very exciting, just bare resin at the moment. These models are not much fun to put together and I suspect that they were probably the first kit that Prodos designed. They are in the process of being redesigned though so they should be a lot better in the future.

The big problem with the kit is that although there is an MG option included there isn't actually sufficient arms to make one (they come with 4 sets of rifle/MG arms and 1 set of rocket launcher arms) which I only noticed after I had already made an MG gunner. I was forced to make an ad hoc conversion using whatever I had at hand (and the odd proportions of GW plastics meant that the vast majority of my bits box was useless).

It turned out all right in the end but still an annoyance.

I dislike the Teutonic Dominatrix aesthetic of Angelika Drachen so I have opted to use a Hussar Officer converted out of one of the 2nd ed plastics instead.

My Vulkans are the only Bauhaus that I have painted and I intend to use a similar colour scheme for my infantries armour. They aren't as dark in reality.

For my Imperials all I have painted at the moment is a section of Trenchers

Their camo doesn't look as bad as that in reality...

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Interesting stuff. How do these scale with the 2nd Ed Plastics? I have a ton of them, and I've been looking at grabbing some newer stuff for command elements and the like.

They scale fairly well, the old plastics are slightly shorter and more rounded. Their monopose nature also puts me off using them for rank and file models but one offs like the officer look perfectly fine

A scale comparison to 40K.

Hmm, that looks like it would be significantly taller if the legs were straightened out. Cheers for the scale shot. Looking forward to seeing what you do with these minis.

I've taken some scale shots of my own Bauhaus and Capitol guys and I'm inclined to think that they might actually be true 1/48 scale. They're taller than just about everything, even Infinity and Dreamforge figures, both of which tend to run a bit taller than most other lines.

I like how your guys are looking though. I too have noticed that the Bauhaus are already not looking as nice as their newer figures. They probably were some of the earliest sculpts they did. Not to say that they're bad or anything. Though I will say that they're a bit too dynamic. Still, I want to see what you do with them. Not many people have posted pics of their completed Warzone figures yet.

Also, you Trenchers are looking good. I really wish I'd gotten some of them.

Well I painted the officer as a test mini given that the is probably going to be temporary until the Bauhaus range is expanded. I quite like him though and I will see if I can get a better picture when I get home this evening.

I never took into account the poses of the Hussars when doing the size comparison so I made a comparison with one of the upright Trenchers and its really not that bad. The Officier is definitely shorter but not unusably so, his eye level is at around the height of the trenchers chin (or a Vulkan's knee..) so well within what I would class as acceptable variation. I can also pass off the differences in armour style as being due to better materials and worksmanship so all in all I think he fits in well enough that I may well keep him.

I think that I will paint up what I have for Bauhaus and Imperial and then start on a Capitol army as the majority of the models that I want to use are already available while the Bauhaus and Imperial stuff that I want are either not released yet or being redesigned. Lots of heavy infantry (2 full squads) Sea Lions, Banshees and an Orca in a Martian red colour scheme, that's the plan anyway.

Stuff looks great! I really have to paint my Capitol at some point...

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Slightly slower update than I planned but never mind. I have completed my Bauhaus for the moment and they will be on hold until the Hussars get redesigned. I saw the newly redesigned Vulkan at Bovington yesterday and it is a lot better (aside from the lack of an enclosed canopy) but I can't really justify buying another 3. The Imperial Wolfbane have apparently been designed now so they should be making an appearance soon enough.

Apologies for the poor photos

I have also bought the first parts for my Captiol army

For my 1000 point list I will be using an all infantry list with a lot of fire power and some annoying mobile elements.

A Heavy Infantry commander with some small upgrades

10x Heavy Infantry - The Capitol equivalent of 40K terminators each with the Warzone equivalent of a 3+ save, 4+ Inv and FNP and each of them are armed with an autocannon

10x heavy Infantry

5x Sea Lions - Sneaky special ops

5x Banshees - Jump pack equipped melee(ish) infantry

10x Airborne Infantry - Drop troopers with lots of missile launchers

My 1500 point list will see some Purple Sharks and some more support troops.

I have also bought the Drop Zone Commander starter box so this Plog will be diversifying slightly.

I haven't had much time to paint over the last few weeks so I have only managed to get the DZC starter finished and assemble my Capitol. I'm really going to have to find out how to take decent photos with a phone.

I plan to get my Capitol finished by next weekend as I have gotten a pile of toy soldiers for my birthday, basically the lion's share of my remaining Capitol and DZC armies so I want to clear my backlog ASAP.
