Dear Dakka people,

I wish to start a Tyranid army and I'm searching for a good list so I know what to buy first.
Since I will be fighting Tau and Eldar the most, I would like to focus on these two (semi-competitive). The other armies doesn't concern me as much.

I have the following list in mind, however I would like you guys to help me out and find the weaknesses in this list, or specific units I have excluded which are a must.

Not a bad list...but I see two "issues". One, you are short on Synapse, two, you're short on Troops. The first one is possibly fatal, the second, is just a weakness.... I'd suggest you drop the Hive Guard, and put in Zoanthropes, that gives durable Synapse, adds 3 cool Powers of the Hive Mind! (one roll, Dominion, Warp Blast/Lance, 2x shots with the Lance/Blast) that saves 10 points and makes an improvement.

At 1000, I would only run one Exocrene, and put those extra points into Troops. I'd increase each Brood to say...x20, and add one more of the same size. That leaves 10 points extra here as well. Several upgrades are available with 20 oints laying around, you can put a Thorax Hive on the Tyrant (Electro-bugs) for 10, you can take Hive Commander for 20, or grab Spine Salvo(?) for your Harpy, so it can do light duty vs fliers....

Another, more major change would be to lose the Exocrenes altogether, and buy twin Dakkafexen, that would save 40 points, and give you some light AA, and some good AT in the form of angry BIg Bugs. If you can find 5 points, I'd want a Venothrope. Otherwise you can look at upgrades, or an additional Troop. I hope this gives you some good ideas, Good luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!

I agree with a lot of pinecone's suggestions. Nids need a lot of bodies on the table. You are very light on troops, even at this point level. I would run at least 2 squads of 20 terms at 1000 points.
