Ok, I bought the tyranid swarm set (It has not arrived yet). My next purchase is the codex... But after that, What models do you recommend I get?
Also, Is there an option (in the box) to make the carnifex "old one eye"?
next, what should I equip my hormagaunts and termagaunts with?
Lastly, is anything in this box deep strike/jump infantry
As you can tell, I know very little about tyranids But, hopefully you can teach me the ways of the nids'
Thank you all!

Your next purchase should be an HQ choice with Synapse, either a Hive Tyrant or Tyranids Prime. The only HQ choice in the Swarm box is Old One Eye (who is overpriced and doesn't have Synapse).
Devourers, Fleshborers and Spinefists are all effective weapon choices for Termagants. Hormagaunts don't have any weapon options other than Scything Talons, unless you wish to give them guns and use them as Termagants (I have 15 with Spinefists, they look pretty cool).
Gargoyles are Jump Infantry, Rippers van be upgraded to have Deep Strike,

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

You'll almost certainly want a Hive Tyrant, and a box of Warriors (optional, but super useful)
I built my Termigants as Spinefists, but that was for "looks" plain vanilla is just fine, I set aside 10 Hormigaunts, and built them with Devourers, as "Devilgaunts" (Upgraded Termigants) The Gargoyles are Fast attack, and I believe they can Deepstrike...
I strongly suggest you build the Carnifex as a "Dakkafex", and if possible, magnitise. (Twin link Devourers, x2) it really is a "do everthing" unit.
You'll almost certainly want some Venothropes, and Zoanthropes, so you can keep an eye out for sales. I suggest you build a 750 to 1000 point list and play a dozen games or so, then look at buying some more units.
Good Luck! And welcome to the Hive Mind!

The Swarm Box is absolutely worth the buy.
Make the Carnifex you get into a "Dakka"fex (with 2x Twin-linked Devourers). Gargoyles and Termagaunts are solid units, I would convert at least some of the Hormagaunts into special weapon Termagaunts (Devourer weapons are the best of the bunch, IMO).
You're next buys from there should be as follows:
MUST HAVES:
Hive Tyrant (make it a Flyrant with wings, kit it out with TL Devs like the Carnifex. Forgeworld sells the arm bits) - get a second eventually
Zoanthropes (get 2 and have 2 1-unit squads)
Venomthrope (just one should be good)
Good units:
Warriors (2 with standard load-out (Devs and STs), one with a Barbed Strangler)
Mawlock
Biovore sqaud (2-3 for one unit)
Carnifex box (get 2 more fexes, make a 3-man squad)
Tyrannofex/Tervigon (this one's a little more up for debate, in our old codex, Tervigon was the unit to have, I now prefer the Tyrannofex though)
Anything beyond those is up to you. Good luck and have fun!

What kind of player are you? Are you a shooty or asaulty player? Hordy or few MC elite player? Maybe a combination of all of them? Do you play for fun or must win? What about Tourneys? What point size games are you playing with? Once you get your codex, and read it, see what appeals to you. Also the Swarm box is worth it. Basically you are paying for the gaunts, and the gargoyles and Carnifex is free.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
