Mindless Spore Mine

Tie breaker game coming up with myself and a friend who plays Tau, will talk about what he usually takes and why I have taken what I have below.

1549 Points of Battleforged Tyranids

HQ: 250pts

Hive Tyrant - Wings, x2 TL Dev w/brainleech, Hive Commander, Rolling two powers hoping for Catalyst, but not counting on anything, Warlord (Strategic Traits, aiming for Master of Ambush)
250pts

Elite: 90pts

Venomthrope - 45pts
Venomthrope - 45pts

Troops: 619pts

Tervigon - 195pts
Termagant Brood x30 w/11 Devourers - 164pts
Termagant Brood x10 - 40pts
Termagant Brood x10 - 40pts
Warrior Brood x3 - 90pts
Warrior Brood x3 - 90pts

Fast Attack: 75pts

Gargoyle Brood x10 - 60pts
Spore Mine Cluster x3 - 15pts

Heavy Support: 515pts

Exocrine - 170pts
Biovore Brood x2 - 80pts
Trygon Prime w/Miasma Cannon, Toxin Sacs - 265pts

Total: 1549pts

We will be playing a mission selected at random from both options, but will most likely reroll if we hit the relic

My opponent is a relatively irregular player, however is still quite competitive.
He will no doubt be bringing something that somewhat resembles 1 Riptide, 3 Broadsides (Up to 6), anywhere between 3 and 6 Crisis Suits and a slathering of firewarriors, maybe a hammerhead but not very likely.
He expects me to bring flying things (as I usually field 2 Flyrants + Harpy) so will most likely have skyfire coming out of his ears.

Really this list will go one of two ways, it all depends on the warlord trait, aiming to roll master of ambush...
If I am successful, and also have first turn, (Optimistic I know) then the plan is as follows:

Deep Strike Trygon Prime, Spore Mines (Considering holding some things in reserves to try and pop out of his tunnel)
Outflank Tervigon using hive commander
Outflank Exocrine, Termagant Blob of 30
Infiltrate Gargoyles and Flyrant

So deployment will look something like this..

-------------------------------GGGG
----------------------------GGGGGG
---------------------------------HT
-------T T T-----------------------------------------T T T
--T T T T T T T ----------------------------T T T T T T T
---TWTWTW--------------------------------TWTWTW
-----V B B-------------------------------------------V

Winged guys will quickly get involved putting pressure on from the word go, they will be distracting from the two groups of two objective secured units. Biovores do their thing and pop fire warriors, if they're held in reserve then do my best to miss and get some mines floating around the field.
From there I expect the Tyrant to go down in a blaze of glory, and hope like hell that any of the Trygon Prime, Tervigon, Exocrine, Termagants arrive. Preferably the Tervigon first so I can deep strike the Prime on the opposite side to balance out my synapse/control of the table, the Primes roll will be to get into a position that threatens my enemy and also allows me to wipe out (or come very close to) a scoring unit via shooting in the turn of arrival. The exocrine will come in and hopefully cause some havoc ((Potentially out of trygon tunnel) would it be better to infiltrate him? Or just walk up?) the mines are there as a minor (No pun) distraction, should they be left unattended they will soak up a round of overwatch for the Trygon. The Termagants will turn up either out of tunnel or edge of board, such weigjt of dice should be able to eliminate or if need be tar pit something (Riptide) until something more suited to the task arrives. And from there its pretty much do or die..I feel there is a lack of late game plans besides relying on my OC troops to score me some serious points.

And if I DONT roll master of ambush (Hopefully it will give me strategic genius)...itll be a toss up between outflanking the tervigon to get into his deployment and drop out gribblies, and outflanking the blob of gants to overwhelm something with sheer weight of dice (52 Shots!)

Strategic genius is also a goodtime, giving me a better chance at going first and the ability to reroll my reserves, this would likely lead to using the prime tunnel to get the exocrine into the backfield where it can carve through some suits, or bringing the blob up through it...who knows.

I know some of the units may seem a little unusual (Prime w/cannon) but at the end of the day I/we play to have fun, and the idea of a 6W T6 monster poping up in his backfield, unloading an unholy amount of shots, and then watching him figure out a way to deal with it sounds grand to me! (very expensive distraction)

Thoughts! Opinions! What would you do differently? Looking for advice on making this list a little more all comers, with versatility and adaptability being key (units with multi options (deep strike, infiltrate))
Also any advice on rearranging some of the points spent such as swapping the devourers on the gants for more spore mines, or vica versa.

Also I have quite a large collection of Nid models so just about anything is possible....No carnifex though :O

I hope this list is well received!

I'm not sure I understand all you're saying...Only infantry can use the Tunnel, so no Exocrene, right? I would build some parts different, I like to put a Strangle Cannon in each Warrior Brood. I don't think I'd put a Miasma Cannon on Big Wormey, so theres 25 points, spend 20, save 5.

With a Deepstriking Prime, I'd Outflank the Big Brood of Termigants, and leave Big Momma Tervigon in the backfield. (You want to keep Termigants outside the backlash zone) Big Wormey can provide Synapse, and set a Tunnel for other follow on units.

If you can, I'd want to add a Biovore, and do "Living Artillery" that formation is custom made for trashing Gunlines.

I also would want a Thorax Hive for the Tervigon, and points allowing, the Tyrant....lose the Spore Mine, add the 5 saved, both done.
