Well crap. I guess I will wait for a good 3P to make some shields, otherwise it is Shapeways for me.

You could, but they have different style shields. I think the mkIII breacher shields are cooler.

Those aren't Mk III shields. And Breachers come in 10+ per squad, so six shields won't cut it. Besides, I can get 10 shields off Shapeways for $19 instead of 6 shields for $28.

They existed during the Horus Heresy, and were used by MkIII-equipped Breachers. The arms don't match MkIII, but then you can barely see any of the arm between the shield and the shoulder pad anyway. The biggest issue is getting the rim of the MkIII shoulder pad to fit next to the shield. Price is of course a valid reason not to get them, the upgrade kit is frustratingly expensive.

I think forgeworld was trying to subtly hint that you could get away with using their badab war boarding sheild upgrade set with the images in the black books - here's another..

I don't think there is even an attempt at subtle! When it comes down to it, most of the equipment still used by Space Marines in the 41st Millennium was developed during the Great Crusade or Horus Heresy. Like the Mars pattern MkII Rhino, which was in limited use by the Legions in the late GC.

The pictures in the big books are loveley aren't they?

you're spot-on, and the big books have 40k stuff depicted here and there - it's easy to miss them though!

That they are, the snippets of fluff about unit markings and battle honours, and the short histories of the soldiers depicted are some of my favourite parts of the HH books!

Yeah, it certainly is, I didn't notice the Iron Warriors MkII Rhino on my first read-through of Book III for example.

Have the FW prices done a sneaky rise in the last few days?

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Huh - aren't there meant to be some things you can get at the FW "store" in Warhammer World that you can't order online? I thought it was the event stuff.

There's Warhammer World exclusive stuff, and there's event exclusive stuff. I'm not sure if you can get the event exclusive stuff at WHW whenever.

I'm thinking about getting a couple of sets of Mor Deythan and/or Legion Scouts for making Deathwatch with Stalker pattern Boltguns.

Are they single piece or effectively single piece models? I can't find unbuilt photos and was wondering if anyone had experience with them.

Tiger Shark redesign. Apparently going to be released early next year. Found on Facebook in the Warhammer 40k: Tau Empire group. Yes, it makes both variants.

Yeah, I just don't like that the arms are Mk VII. I am going to pick up a bunch on Shapeways shields so I can still use the Mk III arms. I can put etched brass emblems on the plain shields(the ones with a cross will be for the Sergeants). Much better price. Unless I can figure out a way to get the arms in position so the boltgun can go through the gunport, they probably won't be holding the shield in front of them though.

Interesting, seems like less of an aesthetic change than the Barracuda. It's just unfortunate that a combo kit means it probably won't have the retractable drone rack like the original one, which was a pretty neat feature.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

It's conceivable that they could make one designed to be used with magnets, but I don't know much about the feasility of that. Is the current one actually articulated (is that the right word? Slideable?)
