Just wondering as I'm going to start building a Stargate themed necron army soon, I found wonderful egyptian style bits at www.puppetswar.eu so I'm wondering about the above question. even if you say had to flip them so the straight edge face the head and the rounded end fitted over the shoulder/arm joint slightly restricting arm poses. Also anywhere else that has cool egyptian conversion bits?

I would see why not, they may need a little tweaking with a knife. The good thing with GW products they proportion their models well depending on the type of character, so lots of things are interchangeable

On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

Just checked. They do at least on the basic necron warrior model.

Don't use the pads. Find some other solution. SM pauldrons are way too iconic and your necrons will just look like Iron Hands space marines. Just... Don't do it.

Necron warriors have the shoulders attached to their chests so if you want to use them you'd have to clip those off.
