Just like the title says.

I'm getting some DKoK models, and so I ordered the Siege of Vraks bundle. I looked on our very own FW rules index and noticed that there is a DKOK list that is included in IA12 that Vraks doesn't have. Can someone tell me in a nutshell if I should drop the $90 on IA12? Is the list good enough?

The Assault Brigade is the list in IA12 that Vraks doesn't have. I

The Assault Brigade list is different than the other lists in a few key ways. It lacks the heavy artillery platforms of the siege regiment, and the lighter artillery like Thudd Guns are Heavy Support instead of Elites. However, it does have access to Grenadiers as Troops, Griffons in Elites, and a few other changes, as well as having some options for Chimeras.

Effectively it offers more mechanization, tank, and Grenadier options, instead of being able to take humongous numbers of artillery guns.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Ah, thanks. I guess I'll pick that book up also. Eventually. After my wallet finishes it's initial crying fit!

It's a very cool book and my favorite DKoK list.

IA12 is beautiful anyway.

The names of the lists pretty much sum them up. The assault brigade focuses on assaulting the enemy and therefore the list focuses on closing with the enemy and eliminating them. To do this they get respawning infantry platoons and grenadier troops with storm chimera transports. The HQ's are also very unique as there is an independent character company commander and techpriests which can increase a weapon's strength by +1 (how about a S6 punisher cannon, ouch). The long range options are limited for DKoK though and they lack the easy access to engineers that the siege list has. Their leman russ spotters are pretty great too.

The siege list BTW is updated here;

The list in the IA books is actually hugely out of date. The siege list has 2 advantages; elites thudd guns and troop engineers being able to come out of hades drill tunnels. Otherwise the siege list is very much over priced due to having the same prices as the assault list but without most of the additional options, special abilities, and synergies.

Overall though the FW books are just beautifully executed and are worthwhile for their art and fluff alone (assuming you are interested in that).
