After being a loooong time lurker, I thought it was bout time I actually signed up to the forum and documented my own project.

I have followed the hobby on and off for around 18 years (since the release of Warhammer Fantasy 4th edition), yet after a long break, have only made a active return in the last year with Jes Godwin’s fantastic Dark Eldar range being the main catalyst.

Since my return, (as you may have guessed), I have slowly been working on assembling a small Dark Eldar force, with the aim of eventually even playing a game or two with them. Rather than being part of a mighty Kabal hailing from Commarragh, I imagine them more as a rag-tag bunch of space pirates who spend their time raiding and pillaging throughout the galaxy (perhaps just paying a visit to the lower tiers of Commorragh every now and then.)

I have tried to build the force with this theme in mind trying to make them look as motley a possible and making the Warriors and Wych squads seem as just differently armed troops rather than separate entities. I also have plans to add various Xenos races to the force going forward.

So with Out further ado I present Serius Set’zar and his band of space pirates.

Please let me know what you think and look out for further updates.

Cheers

Welcome to Dakka, and that's a hell of a way to introduce yourself! These models are amazing, a truly Grimdark representation of the Dark Eldar, and brilliantly executed to boot!

Well indeed, welcome back to the Hobby !

Those models are great, the dried blood on their blades and the overall darkness just complement each other nicely... And the leader is nicely converted !

I'll be following this...

Thanks for the comments guys.

Like many others I am massively inspired by John Blanche’s grim dark vision of the 40k universe and have tried to bring my Dark Eldar in line with this.

The below image in particular served as a key source of inspiration for me:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0a3tQ3o4JEQ/UeeemsMgfFI/AAAAAAAADUI/oAckU3jzdN4/s640/dark+eldar.tiff

Up next I to plan build a leader for the Wych squad based on one of the fantastic new Witch Elf models, I'm just waiting for the last few bits for the conversion to arrive in the mail. So hopefully a WIP pic will follow in the not too distant future.

I forgot to comment sooner, but I totally love that pirate prince, the paintjob is superb. The other stuff looks good too, but I would love to see more characters in the same style.

This is a blog forum, you probably meant to put this in the showcase forum.

Looks sweet otherwise, the blending is sick.

Cheers Bruticus....Big fan of your work!

As mentioned earlier, next up I have plans to to make a leader model for the close combat squad of troops based on one of the Witch Elf models. This will (hopefully) be produced to a similar quality as the Pirate Prince.

Simply stunning.

The prince is fantastic. I particularly like the slaanesh claws as the backpack. The subtle conversions of each figure are just great.

The use of the Scourge legs for the Wyches works extremely well. It gives them an extra level of grace that the regular kit is missing.

I also love the sails being painted as flesh. I don't think I've seen it done before.

Looking forward to more.

Great looking DE! I appreciate the dark color scheme and the subtle conversions add some great flavor, especially the corpse cart flayed body.

As promised, some WIP pictures of the squad leader for the close combat unit. Still have to do the base, remove a few mold lines and perhaps add some more details...but you get the general idea.

HAHA please note - when glued onto her base she actually leans a lot further foward, in more of a charging pose....rather than looking like she is preforming a crane kick!
