I brought my Tyranids to Astronomi-con Toronto 2014 last weekend, and had a great time! I took pictures of slightly over half of the armies present (see spoiler tags below)

Astro is a rather unusual tournament: each of 30 tables comes with its own specific mission. Many missions involve securing supply crates or other moveable objectives (in one case, Chaos cultists who run away from and shoot at their pursuers). About half the missions use a version of the old Escalation rule: allowing only Troops to be deployed at the start of the game, for example. Or only infantry. That kind of thing. It makes for interesting missions, where it's not always the best move to just try to destroy the enemy army.

On to the photos!

Beautiful armies. This is one of the biggest draws for me these days when going to an event; to see the creativity and craft players put into their armies. Thank you for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Was an awesome event last weekend! (I was the wee girl running the Sallies + IG Infantry swarm and rolling awful dice)

I even managed to win one game, despite the dice doing their very best to kick me every single game.
My plasma weapons killed more pts worth of my own stuff, most obnoxiously in game 5 where the plasma cannon rebounded 7" and killed my plasma pistol Vet Sergeant, plasma gunner and a bolter chumpie... followed by the survivors blowing their moral check and booking it 10".

Was pretty wicked, played 5 really awesome games and 1 fun vacuum but looks like he scored lowest sports and theme so it not surprised.

Already planning next year.

Wow, what was the comp score for Tyranid army #2? I guess it's around 14.

Joe got 12, he literally signed up a week before the event and just took his normal 1500 and came in 3rd for best sport.
