I'm not sure if this really belongs here, but it probably does. What sort of heavy weaponry do you guys prefer to bring with your teams? I would like to plan my Haqqislam and Nomad forces so that they have some good weapon variety and I'd like, if possible, to have at least one heavy weapon among them to deal with heavy infantry or TAGs. There's quite a few available and I know they all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I'd like to hear what some of you guys prefer to use.

HMGs and ML normally.

With the odd spitfire.
(but it depends on the army I'm playing with. My JSA tend towards missile launchers and HMGs - few spitfire options in JSA.

(Before the Bolts, PanO had NO linkable spitfire option )

Neoterra had no linkable spitfire, you mean. My Military Orders had sergeants and Knights with them long ago. I tend towards either those or a pile of panzerfausts.

@ Barzam are you talking about heavy weapons specifically in link teams or just heavy weapons in general? There are heavy weapons that i wouldn't touch with a bargepole in a generic list that at least become something i would consider taking in a link team once you add in the burst and BS bonuses.

If I run with corrigedor, I normally fit in a HRL with the wildcats. That always works out real nice even if it costs quite a lot. Outside of that the only staple I have are HMGs. In terms of AP+EXP stuff nomads dont seem to have many options and I dont run GMLs so... If there's heavy stuff on the field I normally try to work around it either by killing its orders or trying to stall it with hackers and glue. MLs are alright but have never fancied them in nomads, but also the B1 deters me. I prefer to outburst things to death than have a low B weapon with a high damage output. (ARO difference I know...) So the biggest gun I field is the HMC which is a tad silly to mention as it is one of the biggest guns in the game.

So staple HMG, sporadic HRL and spitfire. But the majority of my kills are normally for a boarding shotgun or combi rifle in a good place (AD or infil). So pretty happy with BSs getting a boost, hope the points dont follow suit though.

Soooooo soorry. You mean people actually play MO in your parts? It's neoterra or ACA or vanilla here. Been that long since I played with vanilla (and I won't play space k-niggits as I already have one for that other game with the elves and the orks and stuff) I'd forgotten about them.

Since I roll Haqq a lot I tend to use the Viral Sniper Rifle excessively. It's an excellent weapon, and really puts some serious fear in people.

Otherwise I like having a Muyib with a Heavy Rocket Launcher. The burst of the weapon, and the templates, and FIRE are all wonderful things, and can put a hurt on link teams.

If I'm rolling Ariadna I have my Tankhunters. The Autocannon is excellent, as is the AP+HMG. I swear, I'd rather have a damn AP+HMG on my Maghariba Guard than the Multi+HMG.

Speaking of, Heavy Grenade Launcher gets a lot of play when the Mag is on the field. At least until it dies a horrible death like it always does.

PanO is exclusively HMG's, with a Spitfire thrown in now and then if I can afford to, but usually it is a Nisse with an HMG and a couple Sierra bots with HMGs for point defense. Then whatever TAG I bring.

Same with he Yu Jing list I'm building. Lots of SWC dumped into HMG bots, but most of the list is Boarding Shotguns for my AP stuff.

Mostly just generic, non-link lists.

How are Fuerebachs? Is that something most people tend to avoid using, or are they worth the cost?

Ooh, that's a good question, especially in the flavor of: should one take the fuererbach sputnik, or the spitfire/marker.

I haven't gotten to play a proper game yet, but I seem to have a slew of spitfires and more than one multi sniper rifle.

I find the Fuerebachs are very interesting, and look really cool... I just haven't had a chance to really use the damn thing.

The 8-24 +3 Range band means it doesn't reach out quite as far as the other heavy weapons. But it is AP+DA, which is an interesting combo that puts some serious hurt down. Damage 14 and Burst 2.

But compare that to the other 'Anti-Tank' weapon of the game, the Autocannon.

8-32 for its +3 band, and it is also Burst 2. But it's Damage 15 and is AP+EXP. To me it just blows the Fuererbach out of the water.

The big thing about these two weapons though, is that they are incredibly limited. There are only two Autocannon units in the game so far, the Tankhunters of Ariadna, and the Kurgat for Combined Army. I know... irony right?

Same with the Fuererbach. Which is limited tooo.... The Sputnik for the Nomads, the Az'rael for Haqq.... and I think one of the PanO TAGs might have one as an option.

Am I missing any?

The Feuerbach may be better compared to a panzerfaust. Isn't disposable and pays for it with shorter range and da rather than exp. It can chuck out a decent suppression fire line as the shots are potent and the in the tsyklons case has decent armour. It also depends on what else can be taken in your army ofc as in nomads there's not to many missiles and such for long range anti tag.
