Subject: [1000] - Eldar vs Daemons

I'm pretty new to the game, and I'm going up against chaos daemons for my first time soon, so I'd love to hear some feedback on the army. It's probably not really competitive, but built in part on taste, so I'd love some comments on my choices more than suggestions for replacements.
HQ:
Farseer (Singing spear) with
3 Warlocks (Singing spear)
Troops:
2 x 5 Dire Avengers in Wave Serpents (Shuriken Cannon, Scatter Lasers)
Rangers
Elites:
5 x Wraithguard w/ wraithcannon
Heavy:
2 x War walker (Holo fields, 2 x scatterlaser) in a squadron.
The idea is to drown him in shooting, with the Avengers scoring with backup from the serpents. Hopefully my speed can keep me out of charging range. The rangers and wraithguard are for MC's primarily, and the HQ blob can dish out some pretty damage as well. I'm a bit in doubt about the rangers, though, and whether I should have the walkers in a squadron or not. So, what do you say?

I usually run the walker with a scatterlaser and starcannon now that scatterlaser gives you laser lock. It makes scoring those 2x AP2 hits a little bit more of a sure thing. Since you don't have anything else crowding your HS slots, I'd probably run them separately.
Your council isn't on bikes right? I'm not sure battle focus will be too much help for staying out of CC. Wraithguard aren't fast (without the spiritseer giving them BF) and if your council is on foot their 12" guns may be a problem.
I've had pretty good success shooting FMC down with my wave serpents so you should be ok on that front.
Good luck and keep us posted on how things go!

Thanks! Would it make more sense to find a way to arm the wraithguard with d-scythes? And is AP relevant when fighting daemons? I didn't think they had armorsaves, or vehicles for that matter.

Honestly, I don't really run Wraithguard (fluff reasons), so I'll let others answer that.
Oh, that's a good point about the armor saves (I don't play against daemons much either - maybe I'm not the best to answer your questions afterall). In that case more shots would definately be better.

All right, well thanks for all the advice anyway, it's always nice to hear that your army isn't exceptionally dumb, and it's comforting with the FMC.

I'm relatively new to eldar, and have not fought deamons yet. That being said:
Wraithguard with cannons are expensive, short range, and few shots. not a lot of impact for the points.
Wraithguard with Dscythes are even more expensive, but if they get close to something they have a lot of impact. And they bypass cover, which may be significant vs nurgle. I would try to put them in a serpent so they get where they need to be.

All true points about the Wraithguard. I bring them in part because of fluff, and in part because I hope to make them useful as a tough distraction and monster-hunters.
Maybe I'll deliver them with the serpent and have a unit of avengers on foot, I've had som luck with that before.
