Hi guys, so I saw a necron conversion online and figured i might try something similar. I wanted to have a bash at some rules for it in advance, and wanted to get your guys thoughts on a suitable pricing for the unit.
Here's my rules for it:
NECRON CEPHALID SQUAD
Cephalid Prime-----
WS 4,
BS 4, S 5, T 5, W 3, I 2, A 1,
Ld 10,
Sv 4+
Tentacle---------------
WS 4,
BS 4, S 4, T 4, W 1, I 2, A 1,
Ld 10,
Sv 4+
A unit consist of 1 Cephalid Prime and 8 Tentacles.
Type:-
Monstrous Creature (Character) (Cephalid Prime only)
Infantry (Tentacle only)
Wargear:-----
Twin-Linked Heavy Gauss Cannon (Cephalid Prime only), Gauss Flayer (Tentacle only), Semi-Phase Shifter
Special Rules:------
Reanimation Protocols (Tentacles only), Reassembly Array (Tentacles only), Independent Monstrosity, Singular Entity, Deepstrike
Independent Monstrosity:-
A unit that contains at least one model with this rule may not be joined by independent characters and cannot embark in buildings or transports. In addition a model with this rule may not fire gun emplacements.
Singular Entity:-
A Necron cephalid is a single machine that for the most part remains submerged beneath the ground in a phased state so as to avoid enemy assault. It often only brings it's tentacles above ground so that for a split second it can become corporeal and either grasp or shoot down enemies. This makes the necron cephalid appear as if it is in fact many tentacle like creatures all attacking as if they were separate organisms, except the truth is that they all connect back to the same source.
In addition to staying with 2” of one another for the squad to be considered 'in coherency', each Tentacle must be no more than 4” away from the Cephalid Prime. Should the Cephalid Prime be removed as a casualty, the rest of the models in the unit are immediately removed as casualties with no saves of any kind allowed. Should the unit be challenged by an enemy character, any Tentacle may accept the challenge as if they were characters instead of the Cephalid Prime.
Reassembly Array:-
A cephalid has such a cornucopia of spare parts and winding tentacle like tubes, that it is a very simply process to replace one damaged tentacle with another one. However the cephalid usually clusters many of these together so as to maximise the strength of each appendage.
A model that has a reassembly array passes its reanimation protocol rolls on a 3+ instead of a 5+.
Semi-Phase Shifter:-
A model that has a Semi-Phase Shifter has a 4+ invulnerable save.
----------------------------------
A Cephalid Prime may exchange it's Twin-Linked Heavy Gauss Cannon for a:-
- Twin-Linked Particle Shredder (5 points)
A Cephalid Prime may take a Gloom Prism for an addition 20 points.
Any tentacle in the unit may exchange it's Gauss Flayer for a:-
- Whip Coils (free)
- Void Blade (free)
- Particle Caster (3 points each)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please help me establish an appropriate cost for this guy. I was thinking around the 185 points mark but that's a bit of a guestimate. Also dunno where he should be in the
FOC... elite maybe?
