The Internet- where men are men, women are men, and kids are undercover cops

"Shadows of Brimstone: City of the Ancients is a fast-paced, fully cooperative, dungeon-crawl board game set in the Old West, with a heavy dose of unspeakable horror! Players create characters, taking on the role of a classic Western Hero Archetype, such as the Law Man, Gunslinger, or Saloon Girl. Forming an adventuring posse, the Heroes venture down into the dark mines, overrun with all manner of ancient demons and foul creatures from another world. With tactical gameplay, lots of dice, and a robust card-driven exploration system, no two games are ever the same as the heroes explore the mines finding new enemies to fight, new loot to collect, and new dangers to overcome. Players can even find portals to other worlds, stepping through to continue their adventures on the other side!"

There's the base description. I've been playing for some time with three buddies of mine, and it has become the thing we look forward most to doing together.

The four classes in the game are well-balanced. As the player who goes last each turn, I can say that the moments I get to shine are more than worth being the last to go (and often missing the last round of combat). The game is difficult without being a grind and the setting is just plain fun. The developers include a CD of suggested music, which my group has augmented with with theme music for each hero (the lawman, for example, chose Big iron for his lawman. My dynamite-tossing bandido has TNT, by AC/DC), which allows for a tense atmosphere occasionally interrupted by awesome heroics- an good overall description fore the game.

Not all of the xp trees or options for the characters are created equal, as out Gunslinger found out the first session. Allowing him to choose again fixed this, however.

Overall, you won't regret buying this game, so long as you have a group that can meet regularly to play with you. I give it five out of five stars.

Perhaps not technically a Marine Chapter anymore, but the Flame Falcons would be pretty creepy to fight.

"Boss, we waz out lookin' for grub when some of them Spice Marines showed up and shot all the lads."

"Right. Well, did you at least use the burnas?"

"We tried, but the gits was already on fire."

"...Kunnin'."

Oh, I bought my copy a year or so ago. If I'm lucky, I'll get it before the end of this year.

If I'm lucky.

There's a whole thread for the five of you who apparently don't understand what the word "estimated" means to freak out on. No need to sarcasagasm all over a dude for liking something because you don't approve of how kickstarters generally work.

They generally don't sell them before starting fulfilment, but let's just say I found the micro-review posting to be in somewhat bad taste here given some of the verbiage, especially at this point in time.

Ah, so you confirmed by PM that he didn't say pick up his pledge at Gencon, then?
