How do theese scale up against each other?
We are getting started on our Cold war game and wanting to go with this sclae. As for rules we are homebrewing them since we can not agree on what set to use.

20mm metal wargame figures tend to be chunkier and more 'heroic' than 1/72 scale plastic figures. However if you don't put the 20mm and 1/72 scale figures beside each other, then 20mm figures work very well with 1/72 scale model kits of aircraft and tanks, etc, from Hasegawa, Italeri and the other major manufacturers.

IDK if they are still available but there used to be 20mm door gunners and pilots for Vietnam era helicopters that fitted very well in the Italeri kits of the Huey 'Slick" and gunship.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Actually, Elhiem, Under Fire Miniatures, Vepa and CP Models will look ok with plastics. They are not chunky.

If you want comparisons with plastics, check The Guild.

After running a forum devoted to WW2 and Moderns in 20mm, for ten years, we aint missed many items. Most manufacturers are on there too.

The Airfix buildings may work for 15mm as the seem to be HO which is 1/87th.

I have one of the Airfix buildings and it looks fine next to 15mm.
I should probably get more of them at some point.

If you are curious about scales vs mm see this:

20mm should work okay with 1/72, provided you don't mix as noted.

20mm is rarely actually 20mm, just as 15mm is rarely actually 15mm and 28mm is rarely actually 28mm

20mm or 1/72 models typically fall within about 20 to 25mm tall. There's a lot of inconsistencies from one manufacturer to the next, it's best to compare where you can and avoid mixing different companies models in the same squad or platoon. But for different models (vehicles and buildings and such) they're usually close enough to work.
