Very sad to have to put this transaction report up. I've been attempting to make this trade work out with Tirates for nearly a month now. Every time that I have been on the verge of putting up a transaction report, he has made contact with me and given an excuse. Being willing to always give another chance, I have done my best to give him every opportunity to complete the trade. As things have wound down towards the last week or so, I have been willing to take other forms of payment to finish this transaction on a positive note. Return of goods, paypal, I'm open to anything. Perhaps by moving this into the public forum it will goad him to take the time to finish this.

Either way, I believe it is time to make others aware of the potential pit falls of working with Tirates, and to allow the moderators to step in and do what they feel is necessary to resolve and protect the other users of the site.

The short summation of the posts that follow is that in my thread I have been searching for imperial knights, in trade or payment. Tirates contacted me, interested in a reasonable trade of eldar models for a NIB imperial knight. I agreed to send the models to him and did so, attaching a tracking number when I had the chance. My trade partner claimed that he would send his part of the trade at the same time. I did not have any further communication for 10 days, at which point I sent him a number of messages. He eventually told me that he had forgotten entirely, even though he had received my models.

He claimed he would send it to me immediately, then another period of no contact. I sent another number of emails, and threatened a transaction report, and possible legal action. The response was that he may have sent the knight and a tracking number to another party by accident. I offered Tirates options to clean the slate. Sending me money equal to the models I had sent. I supposed second knight his thread claimed he had, or to return my models. A further lack of contact came to my stating exactly the legal and forum proceedings that would take place if I did not hear back from him. He begged one more chance to mail things by Saturday the 25th. That day has come and gone, once again without resolve.

Perhaps Tirates is attempting call my bluff. I still hold out hope that this can somehow be resolved, but if not, I am prepared to follow through as I can.

It's funny that you post this.... I too am having the same issue with him.

I was looking for a trade for my DA, and he contacted me about trading an Imperial knight . After I sent the models (he made it clear he wanted to ship the sametime). I never heard from him for awhile . I started messaging him asking him for tracking, he finally responded saying the knight was shipped to the wrong adress.... He claims the model is I the way now, bit I have yet to see it.

After reading your post, I feel like something fishy going on, since the stories match up .... If you want to take legal action, Iam also willing to assist . I sent him 2 LR and a drop pod, so I would like something to be done as well.

I suggest both of you get in touch with his local PD and file charges as well as mail fraud charges with the post department.

Interesting fact I have learned. Bartertown will not allow a btr (bad trader report) if the trade did not take place on bartertown. Very interesting. However they do have all the necessary information and forms for contacting the usps and FBI for mail fraud.

You can file mail fraud charges with the USPS, file a complaint wth his local PD and report it to the FBI using the links and forms provided. You can do all three in parallel, there is no either/or choice here.

It's worth the trouble if he stole from you which it sounds like he did at least imo

I have still heard nothing back from Tirates, so I can only assume that he is no longer interested in rectifying the situation.

Expect to get the run-around from the police.
Typically, his PD will tell you that you have to file with YOUR PD, first. Your PD, in return, will tell you that you have to file with HIS first.

Often, if you call his PD and ask for a detective in the "internet crimes" division (or who would handle that kind of crime) and explain that you get the run-around from both PDs when trying to file a report, you'll get more help. That tactic has worked for us on BTown a few times.

I got an update about this.

Tirates has contacted me, and gave me a tracking number for the knight that was part of the trade. So that is a start.

He said the item was Pre-built by the gave who recieved it on accident, but everything is still intact. I will let you guys know to see if everything on his part goes well

An update on my end as well. I have received a tracking number too. I don't know if it is for the knight, or a return of my models. I will update again when. I have received the package. Thank you to all that have volunteered resources and suggestions.

Tirates, thank you for following up and completing the trade.

May i suggest you two PMing the tracking numbers to eachother? Just to make sure he didnt send you both the same one?

A couple suggestions, from experience:
1) Don't thank him until you have your stuff in hand
2) Watch those tracking #'s every day. Make sure they seem to be heading in your direction. You can get a tracking # on a bubble envelope & mail it to yourself to give yourself a few extra days to BS people.

When it was PMed to me, I noticed something crazy... This guy is about a 20 minute drive from my house.

I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL OR STUPID. DO NOT EVEN ASK.
That said, if needed, I'll gladly act as a trustworthy intermediary who can pick up people's items and send them off to their rightful owners.

Well so far the package has arrived at my home town, and is in the process of Delivery

Well, I just got my package from Tirates. It will be good to wrap this up. I received a large portion of my models returned to me. Two short fire prism style hulls that were not mine, however they are the same purpose I suppose. I got one turret, and one fire prism, but not the firing mechanism that balances it. I did not get the second turret at all. Dire avengers were returned, with only a couple of arms broken off. Jetbikes came back, although all but two of the riders seem to have been lost in the warp, they suffered the most damage in shipping and half of them will likely only be useful for basing now.
I don't think the process of pursuing any more however will be worth the stress or time.

Overall I'm unimpressed by the communication, shipping, timeliness, or reliability of trading with Tirates. I cannot recommend anyone else trade with him, although if you do, I strongly suggest you have him ship first.

While I know you can give a +1 to someone for shipping. I would give Tirates a -2.

Yeah, I received my imperial knight .... Wasn't new in box as agreed upon, was half built. But everything seems to be there still.
