Great theme, good models (love the Tribesmen) and rules preview available, this one might be a winner. From the same company that did the Mega Man board game.

My reservations so far:

- No mention of materials
- The base game seems WAY too expensive for the amount of miniatures you get (starter box with 4 models for each of two teams + 10 zombies + rules/counters for $75, or $140 for two different starter boxes). Add-ons are also very expensive. Unless it's all resin? They don't say.
Edit: They have radically lowered the prices of both the basic pledges and the add-ons since the start of the campaign.
- ...and there are no revealed stretch goals for additional miniatures until the very end of the stretch goal ladder, the rest is just additional art (yeah....)
Edit: They have since added a "Corpse pile" of free minis, the more you pledge, the more "Piles" you get (ewwwww!)
- Rules need a lot of polish. Not a fan of everything being so random.

Dead Meat is an action-packed tabletop skirmish game, where human factions compete in the ruined wasteland of the zombie apocalypse.

Quick start rules: http://jascogames.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/dead_meat_quick_start_rules.pdf
Counters etc: http://jascogames.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/quick_play_items.jpg

Jasco Games is proud to present their newest project; Dead Meat: Quarantine Zone America™. Dead Meat is a 28mm, tabletop skirmish game set 4 years after a massive pandemic has toppled society and set man against man. While zombies are an ever-present threat, other groups of survivors pose a much greater danger – you’ll soon learn that the dead are the least of your problems.

This focus on battles between groups of survivors is one of the things that sets Dead Meat apart from many of the current offerings in the zombie game genre. While zombie-bashing is a lot of fun, the real horror of the genre comes from the lengths people are willing to go to in order to survive. Dead Meat brings this terrifying struggle to the tabletop.

The theme of personal horror goes beyond the game’s look and feel. The rules set has been crafted as a zombie survival game from the ground up, ensuring that each game has elements of drama, tension, and action that you have come to expect from the zombie genre. Check out the game summary below for more details!

Great game play and a strong backstory are all good, but we realize that high-quality, amazing looking miniatures is by far the most important factor in a miniatures game. We’re working hard with a cadre of talented sculptors to produce some outstanding miniatures that bring this twisted world to life.

Dead Meat: Quarantine Zone America™ is a turn-based skirmish tabletop game. Players build armies representing their personal play style, and usually contain between 6-10 miniatures. There is no board or spaces necessary to play – you can outfit your table with terrain and cover however you see fit and battle over it!

While the heart of Dead Meat is all about the tabletop wargaming action we all know and love, it does contain several design elements that make it feel like a horror game, while also setting it apart from other miniatures game rules sets.

Every turn, each of your models gets a random number of action points that they can to spend to do actions, such as moving, aiming, swinging an ax or shooting a gun. If they end up getting few or no actions, this represents they hesitating in fear. Of course, they could also get several actions, which could mean a sudden burst of courage or rage! The random action point system brings a level of drama and action rarely found in miniatures gaming.

Of course, fighting can create a lot of noise. Guns are noisy. People crying out in pain or screaming in fear are noisy. All of this noise tends to attract hordes of undead, looking to spread their contagion and increase their ranks! While no player controls the zombies, they do get to deploy them at the end of their turns. The more noise your opponent’s team makes, the more zombies you will get to deploy on his or her side of the table, but the same is true for you! Learning where to place them is a large part of the strategy of Dead Meat.

Using zombies as a tactical element against your opponents, forcing them out of cover, or funneling them into lanes for you to better attack your enemy ensures that Dead Meat is a dynamic, fast-paced game. Players learn quickly that in order to survive, you must keep moving – finding good cover and staying there is a recipe for disaster!

Those art SGs are for the "social SGs". Normal SG map is under those.

Looks cool, but I don't see any mention of materials or shipping charges, and it seems quite pricey...

Megaman wasn't exactly cheap either. Has that even shipped yet?

I got issues with new companies kickstarting things when their fulfillment hasn't even started from their previous one. Same problem I have with Artistic Justice and their Bruce Lee/ Martial Arts/ Fairy Tale games.

At least with MegaCon, Myth was starting to arrive in people's hands by the time Recon started.

I do like the designs though. I'll be keeping an eye on this at least.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Runnin up on ya.

Starters are too pricey for what you get (18 models, some cardboard and a rulebook that probably isn't more than 100 pages).

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Apparently the minis will be hard and high quality multi part plastic.

Game company is unknown to me. Not sure what the status of the MegaMan KS is either.

Game concepts sound interesting, if somewhat familiar.

I like most of the artwork for the minis. Some of the designs are pretty bland though.

Also, the 3D sculpts mostly look like they will not make good miniatures at 28mm-ish size. Details are too fine/shallow.

I will set a reminder and see what this looks like in the last 48 hours, personally.

Pleague don't ask that again. It's a pleague of extraordinary zombie hunters. We're plagued by questions, aren't we?

I really like the Patriot Infiltration Box, as well as the Tribe Muscle Box (and Hunter box for that matter). They've changed the pledge amounts around on the site, but for those two boxes of stuff, I pay more than the starter box price, and get a lot fewer miniatures for doing so.

The Tribe vs Patriot box gets me -
12 faction miniatures (6 of each kind)
9 Stat cards
10 Basic Zombies
10 each of the Blood Tokens, Activation Tokens, Noise Tokens and Overwatch Tokens
Measuring ruler
10 clear card sleeves
12 dice
1 Rulebook.
Stretch goal bonus'

All for $75.00 (Sole Survivor pledge)

If I bought the two Army sets I wanted separately, I'd get the following;

10 faction miniatures (5 of each set)
10 stat cards
6 Basic Zombies
10 each of the Blood Tokens, Activation Tokens and Overwatch Tokens
Stretch goal bonus'

All for $80.00 (Fresh meat pledge plus additional army box)

As I am overseas, I can't even buy the Sole Survivor pledge, I would have to get the 'International Waters' pledge for both Starter Boxes (which I don't have an interest in), and pay $45 shipping to do so. Or I could take the Fresh Meat pledge, and likely pay another $15 for the second box I want to cover shipping. Which brings the cost for the first pledge to $110 (or only $95 if they don't double up the cost of shipping).

That's pretty darn expensive for a kickstarter. In comparative terms look how much you get in a basic box of Zombicide. Sure they're not multipart miniatures, but you get a hell of a lot of figures for what you're buying.

My other concern is that whilst these might be 28mm multipart miniatures, I don't know how well they will scale against a system I would ideally like to use them in (Infinity). Buying sight unseen, especially for the costs given, makes me wary quite a bit.

Well, they've listened!

Further price adjustments

Pledge Level Adustment

So after our price adjustment, we listened again as there were still a lot of people who said that they felt our prices weren't in line with what they've come to expect from Kickstarter projects. So we read what everyone had to say, and spoke to some of our fellow game companies who have run successful Kickstarters in the past. They concurred, and we spoke about what people on Kickstarter are more accustomed to in the price arena, as well as how to work the magic in production to cut some costs that we were worried about, as well as some other options for international shipping.

We're really jazzed about this project. We love the concept, the idea, and we feel we've come up with amazing miniatures for this game. If we didn't believe in this project, we wouldn't have worked so hard on creating an awesome product. So therefore, we've gone ahead and created new pledge levels to more accurately reflect what people are accustomed to. So we're hoping that everyone can migrate to the new pledge levels so that we can lock down the old ones, and get people more of what they want.

Without further ado, here are the new pledge levels as they stand:

Fresh Meat (New) $50 - Backers of this pledge level receive two (2) army boxes of their choice, plus one (1) Corpse Pile. International backers add $15.

Sole Survivor (New) $60 - Backers of this pledge level receive one (1) starter box of their choice, plus one (1) Corpse Pile. International Backers add $15.

Buddy System (New) $100 - Backers of this pledge level receive both starter boxes, plus two (2) Corpse Piles. International Backers add $25 for shipping.

Armory - This level price hasn't changed, but what is offered to retailers is being adjusted, and we will message dealers specifically who have asked about this in the past to update them to the change.

Vector Carrier (New) $2000 - Backers of this pledge level will receive two (2) of each starter, plus two (2) of all add-ons, as well as four (4) Corpse Piles. They will also have their likeness for an additional head on the zombie sprue.

New Add-on prices: So you'll also notice that we've dropped the prices of the Army Boxes, as well as the character add-ons. This is to keep the prices in line with what we have done above with the pledge levels.

Army Box Add-On: $28
Character Add-On: $12

You'll note that there's a lack of International Waters, but that's because we've moved all the pledge levels to be international. We do hope people do enjoy the new levels, and we'll be locking down the previous levels and move people towards the new pledge levels. We still have a few things that we'd like to explore with the game once we hit funding. So remember to let your friends know who might have disagreed with our pricing structure that we've updated it again, and urge them to pledge if they're interested in the project!

I snagged the second $45 Fresh Meat pledge, and do think I am getting my value out of this, even with $15 postage. It's essentially the cost of two Infinity unit boxes, but with more guys, and as I am intending to use these dudes for spare Ariadna (and also possibly Haqqislam dudes, depending if I like Aegis enough), this is a nice box set of stuff.

I do hope they make it. They're nice looking potential sculpts and artwork, would hate to see a rough start doom their project.

So previously they were either gouging, didn't bother finding the best prices they could or are getting desperate which can lead to fulfillment issues.

Glad I backed out of this one.

Yeah, seems like quite the radical price drop. Did they suddenly find a huge pile of money they had forgotten about? I updated the OP with new pledges. Can't be bothered to re-upload all the add-on pics, so I removed them.

I think they are cutting down the cost to generate momentum for the campaign, and also with the possible realisation that it might be better to get this project crowd sourced and funded, taking a slight hit on their finances and then make cash by selling it in stores, than not have it succeed at all.

I think given the revamp in pricing they would be better off cancelling the Kickstarter and relaunching only with the new pledge levels. It becomes very confusing and off putting otherwise.

I agree with the revamp and relaunch.

Kickstarters can greatly benefit from keeping things as simple as possible.

I say streamline the pledges, and just throw the bonus content in as you go, as those corpse piles are going to get confusing, especially as goals get met and things get unlocked.

I would probably have backed it *if they had shown actual prototypes* of the minis instead of renders - which look nice but of which many are impossible to reproduce IRL due to undercuts, fragile parts and way to thin parts.

Tip:
Withdraw the KS,.
Rethink the pricepoint/pledges.
Add plastic tokens.
Resculpt with playable minis in mind and send samples for high-end 3D-printing.
Hire an awesome painter and take cool photos.

Also (based on the Zombiecide reciept for a smash hit) make sure to sculpt a few not-Walking Dead characters...

Then relaunch and smile all the way to the bank...

Hopefully the Hot Zone commander isn't actually sculpted like that. No well-trained soldier carries their rifle in that manner with the stock hooked over the arm in real life. I see this often enough in miniatures that it bothers me. That's not only an awkward an inefficient way to hold the rifle, it's potentially inviting painful situations as well.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Just like any "elite special forces" model that's posed at ease with their finger on the trigger, or models firing AKs with the fire selector in the "up" position...
