I did this for the contest over at TheMetalBikini.com. The theme this time was deep space terrain and I was inspired by the GOG re-release of the old X-Wing simulator games. I also did some cards so I could actually try play testing it. Anyway, I only found out about the contest a few days before the deadline so I had to crank this out pretty fast. I'll probably go back and add details down the road, but for the time being it's as done as it's going to get.

It looks nice. How does it play?

I haven't tried it yet, but maybe this week or next. I thought maybe I'd try it out as a solo mission as well.

Very nice... very nice.
You didn't mock up a manouver dial for XQ-4?
Can I suggest:
Green Zero
White Hard 1 (placed so that it rotates in place)
Red Straight 1 (placed so that it moves, albeit slowly)

I was thinking about having it be able to rotate, but I wasn't sure if anyone ever would. I suppose if one pylon is destroyed then you would be able to improve range on the other pylons, but otherwise, I didn't see it happening much.

That looks awesome, and so much better then the painted rocks on a stand that I've seen on eBay for $50+. Can you believe it? They painted rocks and glued them to a stand for "asteroids".

If the guns were located on the outside, by the landing pads then rotation would be important to maximize the shooting range.

@Tamwulf: I know. Besides, how do you play with them? You can't overlap bases and I'm sure it makes plotting movements a pain as well.

@Anpu-adom: Yeah, that's a good point. It might be good for defense as well, in order to protect a damaged pylon, for example. I'll have to see how it plays once I get to that point.

Hmm... Maybe the best way to do this is using the big ship rules ... a card for each platform... and then have the special movement rules. I haven't played with the big ships so I don't know how I would work it.

I was planning on a card for each pylon and one for the torus. Movement would probably be for the torus only, spinning the pylons around itself. A movement template could be as simple as a piece of card that would lie between 2 pylons and you'd just spin the torus to the next edge. Maybe the space between the pylons divided into thirds and you'd have a green 0, white 1, and red 2 (as you said before).
