As one is sure you all know the recently released Leviathan supplement sold out pretty sharpish on the webstore and in most GW stores too, with many not receiving as many copies as they would have liked.

However all is not lost however as GW -- in further proof that we are indeed in the End Times -- appear to have realised this is not too helpful for .. well.. most people really, and will be rushing out a softcover reprint.

Theoretically this should occur before Xmas this year.

To this end the GW stores -- in the UK anyway -- are trying to gauge the rough number of people who would be interested in a purchase of the Leviathan book and are supposed to try and relay this information to GW HQ by store closing time on Sunday the 23rd of November.

IE : Tomorrow.

So if you are interested in purchasing a physical copy then it may well be in your interests to get into contact and let them know.

Currently one has, alas, no information with regards to how this might affect independent stores, but it would seem reasonable enough to assume they will also have access to any such reprint.

This is excellent... I think every tyranid player will at some point at least consider purchasing this, so having it available to do so just makes sense!

I am not sure I want a soft cover now. After all it doesn't feel so "premium" now.

Another alternative would be to offer a more affordably priced ebook version of it.

I would guess that many folks aren't paying them, or paying for as many as they used to, and that may be resulting in this type of change.

Yeah, no kidding, the LFGS I reserved the book at got the grand total of 2 books. 2, entire, books!

I have no idea about the rules since I'm not interested in them, but hopefully everyone who gets the softcover for the fluff will be extremely happy. The artwork is stunning and the entire fluff book looks incredible to me.

Over the last few weeks, our book releases – especially for the End Times – have proven so popular they’ve sold out. As a result, we’re printing new softback editions. Warhammer: Nagash and Warhammer: Glottkin are already available to order now from the Games Workshop website and will soon be available in Games Workshop stores and independent stockists. Currently the English editions are in stock, but we will be printing them in other languages in the near future. Both Warhammer: Khaine and Shield of Baal: Leviathan are also being printed as we speak and we hope to have them both back in stock before Christmas. Watch this space for details!

'So popular they've sold out'.

Can't help but suspect that it is more due to low amounts of available books from the start rather than some especially notable popularity.

I think this Softcover stuff is a joke. They still want us to pay 45/35 GBP for a Softcover book?
If they calculated correctly, they already have made their production cost back with the hardcovers.
So every sold Softcover book would be at a profit. Depending on the quality and quantity of the softcover printrun, print prices can't be higher than 2-4 GBP per unit.

I don't play Fantasy nor Tyranids but would get the books at a reasonable price. But not like this.

Yeah, I'm not paying that. Not for a crappy softcover.

I mean I'm glad to see they at least reprinted them, since making them in such limited numbers was stupid to begin with, but seriously? When we were asking for a softcover option for the rulebooks it was because we wanted a cheaper option. We still want the content but at a reasonable price. This isn't reasonable, they're basically just giving us a shittier product now for the premium price...except this one isn't full of holes.

In light of this I'm not so pleased about the rumor of softcover codices anymore, either. If they're going to be the same price anyway then why even bother? Why not just force everyone to buy the higher-quality hardcover like you already were? Do you really think that's the reason why people are put off buying a $50 codex, not the price but the stupid cover? It's like GW is either half-listening to us or just trolling the fanbase as usual.

In before "OMG GW can't make anyone happy!"

Guys, i'm laughing here as it isn't £35 for one book, but for BOTH books, the fluff and rules. So roughly 17.50 per book. Full colour and of high quality. I'll be getting all the ET books in softcover apart from Nagash as i already have it, but it will be really good.

Full color *and* high quality for 45$?? You mean like the hardcover full color very detailed coffee table books you can buy at book stores for 9$ that are like 200 pages? Come one.. they've distorted your view on how expensive books should be, as if GW is the only company producing books in color.

What came first the chicken or the egg?

Yes, the size of the market is a factor in determining price, but the reverse is also true to an extent.

.... hmm .. how odd.

Going to assume these might well be UK only , if only initially, if they're being printed here and there might not be time to ship them overseas...?

But that's guesswork.

They're on the US site now. $74.25 for Nagash, $58 for Glottkin. I think Nagash was $85 and I honestly don't remember what Glottkin was, but I imagine it's about the same and they knocked a measly $10 off the price. Khaine was $75 I think so that means $65 for the softcover of that one?

Like I said, glad they at least reprinted them, but seriously? I'm not buying them at that price, especially knowing that I could have gotten a much higher-quality version of the same book for a mere $10 extra, if GW hadn't printed a very small amount in the first place just so they could brag later about "how popular" the product was. Whatever.

Well at least those people who were worried that softcover versions of the books would "devalue" their fancy hardcovers have their fears allayed.

Saw one of the soft back versions yesterday - very disapointing - thin and quite cheap looking in comparsion to the HB versions - don't look like they will last long either

Did Glotkin have alot less pages than Nagash?

I'm not sure of the original Nagash price, thought it was like $78. I know that Glottkin and Khaine were both $66 though. The "savings" for going soft back just aren't worth it. I've managed to get all three so far in hardback and it looks so much better than if they were all in softback, and they'll last longer too!

The point of softcover isn't "savings", it's for GW to milk more money out a title and train you to jump on ordering the hardcover direct from GW.

I find this pricing compared to, say, PP's softbacks and eBooks extortionate.
