Have been looking through the new ork codex and the ork supplements lately, looking for some ideas. Came across the wargear options in the waaagh ghazkrul book about the orkimedes items, such as the mega force field.

Now it seems to say in the detachment section that only the units in the ghazkrul detachment are able to select the items from that list.

Does that mean only units in a proper ghazkrul Foc are able to use Them? (eg. The foc with 1hq 2troops and 1elite as the necesary units to be legal)

Mainly asking for the following -

Does that mean you can't make an unbound ork list that uses the orkimedes items?

Is it possible to make an allies detachment (for a different main army) using ghazkrul rules/items.

I'm new to 7th, so this stuff may be obvious but ive not managed to find an answer to it in any if the books. Thanks

FOC is the wrong term, that's a 6th ed thing. FOC's are part of a Detachment.
Only units in Detachmnets from that book can use them.
So that's the Great WAAAGH! Detachment, and any of the Formations (Formations are also Detachaments).

No. The Alloed Detachment is not a Detachment from that book, it's from the rulebook.
You could however take an Eldar Detachment, with a Great WAAAGH! Detachment in the same force. You don't need the Allied Detachment in order to take allies.

Thanks guys, very helpful

New question though...

I'm trying to make a list that avoids basic troops while still being a bound army. Which is hard noe cos of all the Foc altering hqs are gone...

Except for zhadrak. Which is perfect because I want a speedy list, and bikes as troops would be ideal.

But...as far as I can read from the most recent forgeworld pdf update, he only makes troops when he is the warlord. And if he is the warlord, you can't use kanz, dreds or mekguns.

Not bothered by the kanz or dreds, but mekguns are really useful artillery. I originally thought I could have one detachment with zhadrak in, and bike troops, and a second detachment with artillery, but the wording of him being the warlord makes me think that there can be no kanz etc in the entire army...

Though it doesn't restrict allies bringing similar slow units, so it's a bit inconsistent. Any thoughts?

The alternative is lootas and battlewagons instead of mekguns but I don't think they'd do the job as well.

Yeah, sadly forgeworld haven't updated their old rules for some time.
Similar abilities were changed from "Army" to "Detachment". Sadly this hasn't happened to Zhadshard.
