Are there any strength - ranged weapons? have there ever been any?

There have been some "weird" weapons that have no strength value but apply special effects or use an alternative method to roll to wound/pen. Old haywire/poison weapons, etc.

Markerlights are the only ones I can think of.

Weren't there some old 'bid things that were based off the models attributes? I'm thinking before 5th.

You mean Tyrabids? Yeh, all of their weapons used to be S+2 or S-1 or whatever. I Think that was... 4th, or 5th.

It was the edition where things like termagaunts were just "gaunts" with a low low base statline, but you could upgrade them a million different ways, making them into all sorts of different types of termies.

The Conversion Beamer is a ranged based Strength weapon. It has 3 different range bands that improve the Strength and AP of the hit as it increases in range.
