I've started playing orks for a month or two (super small games of 200-300 point battles ) and since I will be getting a heap ton of models very soon I wanted to have a fun theme for my army. Any theme is welcome to be said and I was thinking of a pirate, Scottish(with kilts and bonnets), wild west, or Napoleonic theme. Remember any theme is welcome and will be considered so post away!

I'm doing robots and meks (not a particularly original list, but should be fun for me personally), so... dont do that

I have seen orks painted with blue skin instead of green, which looks pretty cool, and would suit the scottish braveheart look quite well.

Pirate is done a lot I think, especially with freebootas and flash gitz, but its still a good theme.

wild west and napoleonic would be a new one on me... napoleonic with cannons might work?

If you're considering pirate theme, then it would be rude not to consider ninjas. Kommandos would make pretty good ninjas.

A theme doesn't have to be unique to be good.

I think Freebootaz (pirates) are the best Orks. You can use lots of different colors for their armor, give them awesome hats and lootz.

Though I personally would paint my Orks skin green, as they are meant to be green, not blue.

Thanks for the ideas! What I might do is twist your thought about painting the orks blue and instead painting the blue "highlander" war paint on their faces. Ninjas would be cool for the pirates and would be fun to convert, but I am leaning towards Napoleonic or Scottish. Thanks for the ideas again

What I've been doing is giving chunks of my army different themes, so they make one giant kulture bash. They wear the same uniform pants, but their shirt colors and skin colors will vary depending on which planet they originated from. Their skin color also denotes their specialties.

Example: My Red Skinned Orks come from a fairly technology deprived, sun baked planet, so they are more reliant on their close combat prowess. My unique Warboss, Morg Deffbringa who hails from this planet, leads the redskins into glorious battle.

The Blue Skins come from a blue sunned planet that has an abundance of resources such as metals and elements, and the radiation from the planet tends to produce more intilligent Orkses, and as such Grark Mcshinygubbinz hails from this planet. A clever and quick fingered Big Mek who has built grand numbers of Walkers to assist in battle. Through his cleverness, he has also worked his way to becoming the great leader of my army, with Morg as his second in command.

My Greenskins are your classic, ever lovable looting and dakka loving numbskulls. The greenskins of my army were all outcasts from various klans, who rallied under Grark's banner when he promised them the opportunity to undergo some of the most krumpiest battles, and for the rare chance of becoming more than just an Ork or Grot (Via Deff Dred/Killa Kan respectively).

Each color skin represents their role, but they are surprisngly united under the inspiring Mork like Kunnin of Grark, and the Gork like Brutality of Morg, the two leaders soon being compared to reincarnations of the two Gods themselves, even believing that the duo could one day even overthrow the likes of Ghazkhull in greatness.

To be honest your army seems very inspirational and awesome! I think what I might do is use what you said. I will probably have my units vary from different time eras throughout the human history but implemented into orks. Thanks for all the comments!

Replace all your orkz weapons with greenstuffed ones that look like foam toys.

Wife got madder then Hell at me when I did Redneck theme Orks..Stopped at ten Orks and in storage...

You could theme them around the idea of "What would happen if the Voyager probe was discovered by Orks/Grots?"

It would explain where they came up with all the different Umie inspirations.

Have a Gorka/Morkanaut/Stompa with a NASA Probe as the main part of it's head as the centrepiece.

Ah, this is why I love orks. Convert them to be anything and its cool. Works with almost no other race. Even chaos and IG still have to fit their specific theme. Orks? Whatever goes.

My reccomendation: movie cliche orks! A western orks with two revolver sluggas and a cowboy hat! N-orks-feratu! (Vampire orks) frankenst-ork (Frankenstein nob with power klaw).
