I'm looking at a couple deff dreads to add to my list (actually I'm already converting/building them, cos they're cool models, but I would also like to add them to a few of my future lists ) but I'm just looking into the pros and cons of loadouts, and what is best to use.

I'm magnetising the options anyway, so most of it is not going to be permanent, but there is an element of forward-planning needed.

In the past the thinking seems to be that 3 close combat weapons + 1 skorcha is the default good build. Lots of attacks, skorcha can soften up mobs before charging, and if immobilised or in overwatch stilll lets the dread throw out some fire.

However I'm now wondering if there is any advantage to:

2 CCW + 2 Skorcha

or

3CCW + 1 rokkit (or even the mega blasta... though the get hot roll isnt great)

Any advantages under the new 7th edition rules?

Thanks guys

I would think the deff dread is running to a spot to get into melee.

The most functional ranged weapon is probably 2 Skorchas because the overwatch is nice.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Yeh i figured having a non-assault weapon was still gonna be pretty useless, as the dread should be running most of the time. Except if/when it gets immobilised of course, then i guess the rokkit is better to have, but paying points planning for that isnt efficient.

But is it better to have 2 skorchas or just 1? You lose an attack in cc and gain a template. On paper it seems like the 2 skorchas would be more deadly, but the old threads ive found seemed to prefer a single skorcha. Coukdnt see why though.

These were all old though, 5th edition mostly i think.

I've been looking for an answer for to this question as well, and the majority of responses were to take one skorcha and since your goal is get into CC, stay in CC, and die in CC.
