I have recently put up a couple of threads on here about my conversion builds, but now that I'm pushing on and actually going forward with a full army list (hopefully) it seemed like I should make one single blog so its all in one place!

I hope to keep this first post as a contents page, with links to all the projects I run throughout... and hopefully you guys will read it and comment and give me some advice and tips and critiques!

I'm not expecting my work to be amazing, it'll probably be fairly crude. But then, thats orks

Here are some update WIP photos of my Deff-Lord. Got most of the base paint on there now, with a few bits needing touching up. Still looks very clean though, so soon it will be time for the good ol' badab brown wash haha.

Looking good, will need the crap washed out of it though. I would do black then brown and maybe selective areas of orange on the steel. Then stipple/chip it a lot to make it look like it's been crashing through walls.

I have two washes ready to go, "negro black" (I'm not even joking... that name was surprising) and badab brown.

I'm going to chip away at it a bit with the plastic clippers before I wash, so the scratches get defined by the wash. Hopefully this will work nicely

Here is another of my current WIP projects. I wanted to add some bikers to my army, but the (albeit really nice) ork warbiker models are really pricey. 
 
I just so happened to have 5 high elf knights on cold ones though, just lying around unused form an old old project idea that never happened. So I thought it was time to try a cheap and cheerful conversion.
 

 

 

So here is my mostly painted (though some touch-ups needed, if I can ever be bothered) cold-one warbikers! They are at least tabletop-worthy, showing the right wargear and weaponry.

Total cost - I dunno, about a fiver? If you include all the plasticard and tools and paints. The cold ones were unused anyway, and the boyz aren't attached and can still be used as actual chopper boyz if I put them back on bases. Versus the cost of 5 actual warbikes, this will do!

Here is the first stages on my first Killa Kan Grot Tank!

I have only done one tank track so far, and so I have put the other leg on to support it level so you can kinda see how it will end up looking.

The legs and tracks are magnetised, so that I can field it as either a killa kan or a grot tank with ease just by swapping the parts over.

What do you think? Would you play against this as a grot tank without complaint?

Personally, I'd hit up them up with a little drybrush on their flesh, so the scales pop a little more, but that's up to you I guess

By the way, I'm really digging the skincolour of your orks, any chance you'd share which paints you used?

Oh, and I also challenge your Cold One Riderz to a race with my Ruff Ridaz

Unfortunately those Ork Boyz were from a set of 10 I bought on ebay a couple weeks ago for cheap, so I didnt paint them! (I wish I did lol).

The reason I used them for this, was because I planned to use shoota boyz in my actual list, and so these choppa boyz were not really useful... until I realised warbikers used slugga and choppa in their wargear, so it seemed appropriate!

They aren't glued in place, just magnetized, so I can still run them as choppa boys if I ever need to.

I hope my own boyz painting meets that kind of standard lol.

Looking good, you might want to consider a little bit of stippling on orange to the steel areas (as rust) but be careful not to overdo it!

Ok, here is another update, no conversions in these just paintjobs I have been working on

They are mostly finished, so far as the base colours go. At some point I will have to age/weather them a bit, but I will do that last. I still have to add on the tusks and shoulder pads. Once the kanz details have been done I'll got back to the dread and do the detailing on him too.

I think these are looking great. Try maybe some orange stippling for a rust effect.

Yeh I'll leave that till the end, I'll want to practise that a little before i unleash on these with rust and grime lol.
