At what point do you choose to just move 4" and give up the DT roll versus rolling DT at the risk of rolling double ones?

It can be frustrating to no end to lose on turn six and wonder if bunching more bodies closer to a terrain edge with an objective on it would be better than rolling a poor DT test and not getting enough models close enough to said objective to survive impending shots. My opponent had two blasts to fire as well it could have gone either way.

Is there an exact distance for you when deciding how to move when an objective in dangerous terrain is on the line? Objective radius pokes about an inch outside of said dangerous terrain and your models are four inches away from the DT and three inches from the objective. Roll poorly on the DT test and only get one or two objective holders. Or, choose to move as normal and tighten the squad up next to terrain to squeeze a few more bodies in range to capture, but give up the opportunity of rolling well on the DT test and get most of squad on the objective. Tough choices :(

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

You have a 75% of moving 4+ inches in a DT test

You can also, you know, run afterwards

So the minimum you will move with DT and a run is 2 inches, enough to get the objective.

What kind of blasts? How effective would they be if you clumped up. My initial thought would be to move the 4" inches up the edge and then use the run move to spread out around it a little more. Hard to evaluate the risks without knowing what your unit is and how the opponent can threaten it.
