Thanks a lot, guys! Yeah, I was really pumped for the switch to straight wounds instead of armor values and vehicle facings.

I got distracted away from the exodite project last week in favor of some D&D minis. My buddies and I have had a loose group going on 3 or 4 years, starting in 4th edition. We only play a couple times a year (as they all live about 3 hours away). This time, we started a new campaign where my buddy was the Dungeon Master. This gave me a lot more time to make some minis rather than having to plan for the campaign itself. I had 5 days to build and paint these guys. Overall I'm very happy with the results.

My character was a gnome tinkerer ranger named Professor Rupert Cogglesbottom. He had some spells that were all represented by various wonky gnome gadgets and gizmos, including a "familiar" mechanical bird named Archibald. He also had an animal companion (from the ranger beastmaster class) which was an Ape named Reginald. Sometimes the Professor rode the Reginald as a mount. So of course I had to make separate minis for each situation! 4 minis for one character! I'm a nerd. There were also 3 other PCs. My wife was Rumpelstilskin, a halfling rogue who is just about the most deplorable creature you can imagine. (So I modeled him covered in blood). Two other friends were a fairly standard Paladin and a Lizardman Druid, complete with a magic wooden arm.

Anyway, it was a TON of fun building and painting several unique minis. A great break from working on an army project.

Holy Terra.

Haha, awesome! I started playing DnD online last month, since I haven't been able to find any games near me. Its quite fun, but I miss the minis...

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Everyone had a great time and, as always, my wife's Rumpelstilkin was the MVP. She gets so into the role and is a total creep.

ANYWAYS, HERE WE GO! YOU WANT UPDATES?!? EH? I GOT UPDATES!

Feels like a long time since I worked on the Exodites but we're back with a vengeance. Got some paint slapped on these guys and finished the basing. It feels great having completed one of the Shining Spears carnosaur riders. I am SO HAPPY with how the bases turned out. These were the most complex bases I've done yet. Cork, drywall putty, sand, rocks, paint, grass flock, 3 different types of grass tufts, and many colors of flower tufts.

The models, colors, and flowers work together (at least for me). Hopefully you all like them too!

This project is absolutely insane in all the best ways it can be. I love your basing and conversions, and with the paintjob you gave them they absolutely pop. Bravo sir.

Thank you, everyone! It's always nice to get such great feedback. I have a lot of the Shining Spears with some paint on them. I'd say they're maybe about halfway done. Hope to get some photos up soon.

Thanks, Cam. Always appreciate the support.

The shining spears are just about done but I forgot to show off something I build a while back. This time it's on the Dark Eldar side of the ynnari army. I want to have a lot of small dinorsaurs running around the board (represented by the various beasts DE have at their disposal) so I need a Beastmaster to go along! They normally ride around on a DE hellion glider. Mine will be riding a dinosaur instead. Using the lizardmen terradon kit plus a few other bits.

I really love your conversions (both the Chaos and the Exodite) I really like how you've been able to get a feral vibe going for all the units (I was curious as to how you'd pull something like that off for the Wraithguard, which you pulled off marvelously)

Thanks, Youwashock. It took a lot of tinkering and trimming to get the skimmer to fit but I think it turned out nice. Still have a lot to go on him!

Thanks man! Glad you went back through and looked at some of the older projects. Been a lot of fun making each of the armies.

Started work on the next large dino. Well, erm... dragon. The new project is a Hemlock Wraithfighter, a large Eldar flyer. Of course for the Exodite force, the jet flying vehicle would not do. It has to be a dragon! I fiddled with the idea of using a WHFB High Elf or Dark Elf dragon kit for this but it just never felt right. The flyer needs be to very large and very intimidating. After all, the model in-game makes nearby units suffer -1 leadership.

After weeks of stewing and brainstorming I finally came up with the idea to combine some kits, all from WHFB. Major pieces include the body of the Magmadroth (Dwarves), the head of the High Elf Dragon, and the wings from the Stormcast Stardrake. Wish me luck!

Thanks everybody! Overjoyed to see others as pumped about this dragon as I am. The original centerpiece models for the army were going to be the shining spears... but now there's the war walkers, the wave serpents, and now this dragon.... I'm overloaded!

Anyway, started on some green stuff work. I also used some left over fin bits from the magmadroth to put right under the dragon's chin. This way there's more of a solid transition from neck to head. Connected it all with some green stuff.

Got the wings on. So nerve-wracking! Oh, yeah, the legs went on too. Forgot to update that one.

Also put the first piece of armor on him. They are some kind of bits from the wraithknight kit. The plan is to build out a armored back piece that will also support the rider in a saddle. As this is a Hemlock (and Hemlock's are psykers), the rider should be a pretty large presence on the model. I think I will make him the king of the exodites in the fluff. After all, he's the guy chosen to ride the biggest, meanest, flying dragon. That, and in-game he will be casting powers and lowering the enemy leadership. Fits well I think.

I think the shoulder pads in the third picture down really help frame the whole piece(I know you've changed the wings a bit too between that and the previous picture).

Thanks everyone! Got him attached to the base. I've never been a huge fan of the clear plastic flying base stems... just too bulky. I used a long screw to mount him. I know some people will think the metal stem looks weird but I like that it takes up less space than the clear plastic. I did something similar with my Necron Destroyers a while back (using nails instead of the plastic stems). Hopefully it will look good once painted up.
