Thankfully not at uni in these strange days, though having finished at the end of 2019 before being hit by a really nasty winter flu, then the Covid lockdown and dealing with serious vision problems for most of 2020, it's still been a very odd and difficult year, hence not being around here too much. Been painting a lot, but posting very little as most of it's been an exercise in getting into the habit again after the eye issues, and thus pretty dreadful!

My vote goes to the gunslinger Vamp Hunter if you're starting the heroes, it's one of my favorites in the set.

Great Cursed City Update, I caved and bought box myself (probably one of the last ones some days after release) and enjoy getting inspiration from your plog. Fell you on the Zombies, 10 should in theory be a good number to paint fast, but all those little gubbins on them are not that great.
Love your work on Radukar with the fleshy wounds, really stunning. And great job on Varg-thingy. Still contemplating how I will paint mine, yours is an interesting take and I have all the colors

Hey mate, some super awesome and FAST painting going on in here!

Human team looks great. Your metallics look so natural and neat and love the different colours working together. Practiced to perfection on the Lions, it's great to see the skills transfer across!

Daenerys' robe is just gorgeous too.

Purple was a great choice for the skellies - I haven't seen the sculpts in this set before, and some of them are mint - the Attila the Hun-looking big skellies are my favourite. You're definitely doing them justice.

Keep smashing them out and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for all the supportive posts everyone.

@Paradigm: Sorry to hear about your vision problems, anything that impacts one of your major senses must be terrible to deal with. Hope it is showing some improvement.

@Viterbii: I do not think you will regret it.

@Tzurk: You are too kind.

@Captain Brown: Thank you Sir, if only I had your painting and terrain making skills.

So here is my end of month update post. April was a decent month with 40 miniatures, so 119 for the year, completed and the following shot. Mainly Cursed City but also some Celestial Lions and some ASOIAF thrown in for good measure:

So the final 4 miniatures of the month are a mix of the mundane and the macabre. First up the mundane with 3 rat swarms. Gulliman flesh then other contrast colours to pick out individual rats. I left some flesh coloured to represent newborn rats:

A bit more exciting is Gorslav The Gravekeeper, I think he was the first mini that GW showed off for the set. I am especially happy with his shovel:

Finally is a little WIP of Jelsen Darrock, just basecoats and a wash at the moment:

Thanks for looking.

That's not a healthy skin tone on Gorslav Great job on him. If you keep this speed up that whole set will be painted in no time. And I'm gonna steal your workflow for the rats, that seems like a good idea to get a "skin" base and then just color over it.

Yeah, Viterbi’s right, Gorslav should go see someone about that skin colouration! The rats though look on fine health. You’ll be finished with CC by the end of may at this rate. If gorslavs shovel is anything to go by you’ll smash it too

Well we are halfway through May already so it is time for an update. Again this one will be exclusively Cursed City.

First up are the final 5 "Mysterious Objects", not much different here apart from the cat is black furred this time and the imp is green:

I also got the 3 youthful vampires, and the siblings of a hero to come later, the Vyrkos Blood-born painted up. These were fun, I really like the senseof movement you get from the sculpts. I am torn between if the face paint is a good addition or not but it stays for now:

So I have finally got started on painting some of the heroes.

First up is Qulathis the Exile. He was very brittle on his tactical masonry so I snipped him of and turned the miniature 180 degrees so I got more contact points to glue him to his base. I think he looks pretty cool,I am especially happy with his face and face covering:

Next up is Cleona Zeitengale. I am not the biggest fan of this sculpt and had no real idea on what colour scheme to use, so I thought why not go as bright as possible? She is also a pain to photograph.

Next is Not Brienne Of Tarth on the form of Emelda Braskov. Just went with a simple armour and blue scheme on her and I am content with the result:

Now onto the brother of the blood born triplets, Glaurio Ven Alten III. I like his daft prancing stance and his mirror at his side and he is the spiritual bother of the Blackstone Fortress adventurer mini:

Finally for this month is arguably the poster boy of the Cursed City heroes, Jelsen Darrock. I love this miniature and am really happy with how he turned out. The limited neutral colours really serve him well:

And a group shot of my heroes thus far:

That takes me to 40 miniatures of the 60 in the set painted so far, so not far to go. I feel like I may need a palate cleanser from all of the infantry sized miniatures in the set but have no real idea on what form that may take. Anyway, here is a group shot of my 13 miniatures painted this month so far:

Thanks for looking.

Great stuff as usual LTMW, and just casually throwing in what looks like a Baneblade too. I wonder if Briene is the reason CC got pulled?

Face paint, all day.

Brilliant work on the heroes. The witch hunter's stakes stand out as a great detail. And, tank in Cursed City?

Fab set of Cursed City models, and Creed levels of sneakiness to try and get me to miss that Baneblade they were standing on!

Wow, a bit of time since my last update. Thank you for all of the comments, it is really appreciated.

I *just* failed with my own personal quest of trying to get Cursed City fully painted by the end of May as I have not got the Ogre or Dwarf painted, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades...

Anyway, on with the progress. First up the dull hordes of bats and rats. These are what I call *serviceable*.

A bit more interesting are the other 5 Zombies and 5 Skeletons. I really love the new Skellie aesthetic and am equally happy with my traditional purple colour scheme:

So onto a couple of named characters from the set. First up is Torgelius The Chamberlain, basically a Necromancer in Cursed City. I wanted a kind of emerald green for him and am happy with the result:

I also got another hero in the form of Octren Glimscry done, a similar green to Torgelius but a bit less bright:

That takes me to 31 miniatures painted in May, all from Cursed City, and a nice 150 painted for the year thus far.

That leaves me with nearly 1000 points of fully painted Soulblight Gravelords for AOS here, and what do you do with such an army? You make it bigger:

So for June I have already painted one of the boxes in the form of the Fell Bats. I really like these sculpts, just a shame that you cannot get more variety from the box. Lots of contrast here but it works:

And also a small WIP:

A new project, I like it! The purple smelliest look really cool, I think they’re becoming my favourite Cursed City minis. I can see why you want an army of them

Cheers everyone, I may have been quiet but I have also been productive. First up is the news that I have finally finished painting up my Cursed City set with the final two heroes from the set.

First up is Dagnai Holdenstock, I feel kindof bleurgh about him but he is done. I just could not settle on a decent colour scheme for him:

I am much happier with Brutogg Corpse-Eater...just a shame that the whole Ogre range does not share his aesthetic. But I am happy with him:

So onto more Soulblight Gravelords. I am really enjoying the variety, versatility and ease of painting for the new Zombie kit and to that end I was able to bang out 15 of them, just 5 more and the boxed set will be done:

Even more fun was the new Dire Wolves kit. I decided to go with a white scheme to echo the pelt on Radukar's cloak. A simple base of Wraithbone spray, then Apothecary white with Gryph charger grey on the tail and around the neck at the same time to create some blending. Throw on some pink and blood on the wounds and paint the claws, eyes and teeth and they almost paint themselves:

And the unit:

Continuing the Wolf theme we have Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos. I adore this model, I hope I did her justice:

Finally is Lauka Vai, The Mother Of Nightmares. This was a lot of fun, I am not totally sure of the overall effect but I am very happy with her skin, the pale blue grey with heavily mediumed purple and red washes created a great effect. I also relatively happy with the blood red armour. Anyway, here she is:

So we are two thirds through the month and I have 32 miniatures painted this month, so good progress.

As ever, thanks for looking.
