Hi, we are in the process of painting my young sons first 40k army - a 500 point UMarine force (lLibrarian, 10 Tacs&Rhino, Scouts&LS Storm and bikers). Mobile, small and fun.
The last time I played 40k myself was.....edition 1...and this seems like a good "excuse" to paint my own force!
I wondered about Doom Legion - trying my best to build a balanced 500 force with different unit choices - that would ally well with the UMarines but given their "history" could justify battling each other (trying to find a way to mix in a chaplain with AMarines, Devastator squad and Tacs for 500 points may be "interesting").
Any advice?

Are you set on using vanilla space Marines yourself? Because Marines have the biggest choice of battle brothers. Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Astra Militarium, Grey Knights... You've got a bunch of options that could all work well together.
