I'm thinking about having a 500 Points detachment for my Chaos forces. I've already bought a box of Slugga Boyz, where do i go next? I've read that another 10 Boyz in a truck, 10 Gretchin, 1 Warboss with PK and a few Killa Kans would work.
I mainly want them as anti-MEQ and light armour.

Just to clarify, it sounds like you are planning to have:
1 squad of shoota boyz
1 squad of boyz (shoota or choppa?) in a trukk
10 grots
1 warboss
some kanz
...or did you mean the box of shootas you have will be the boyz in a trukk?
From a points perspective, if you plan to have two units of boyz in trukks, theres not much need for the grots. Grots are often used as objective campers and very cheap troops tax options, but if you have two lots of boyz they are probably unecessary (in this case).
If you are only having one unit of boyz in a trukk then sure, take grots as your second troops if need be.
For kanz, cos of cowardly grots, its best to have at least 5, which makes them a pricey unit to have. But the models are awesome, I have 6 myself. Not the most competitive unit but they are cool. Give them all grotzookas and run them up to the enemy.
As you are running up the unit of kanz anyway, then the trukk boyz will end up being off on their own. Maybe consider ignoring trukks and running a blob of 20+ boyz on foot, in front of the kanz, as protection? Give them the warboss, maybe with megaarmour and lucky stikk, to tank some hits. Or give them a painboy instead, always useful in big units of boyz.
Painboy
20 boyz
6 kanz with grotzookas
comes up to a bit under 500 i think (im doing this off the top of my head, im at work so no codex haha)

Hm, how about a compromise: 20 Slugga Boyz, a Trukk (taken as a Dedicated Transport (empty), 10 Gretchin, a Warboss and some Kans. from the top of my head it should come up to about 4-500 points.

Why have the empty trukk? Theres no reason you can't do it, but its not much of a firing platform and it is fragile.
Though if you plan to just use it to block some LOS and get in the way, i guess there are worse uses of 30 points. Expect it to die turn 1 though. Trukks are made to explode. A lot.

I play eldar and orks, and as a chaos player I don't see a reason for the warboss at all. the painboy will do you more good as he's cheaper and helping the boys out. The warboss isn't the warlord either, so the boys won't benefit from a waagh.
I agree with the kans, they're 50 pts each stock, so 6 might be calling it close if your adding the zookas. 20 boys with a painboy in a trukk rushing down the field is your best option. I regularly play a chaos player though, and don't see much bringing allied orks, chaos do most things better.

Anti MEQ and anti light armor? Grab a block of cheap troops throw in a painboy then snag tankbustas and lootas.
Or if you want some cheap fire support a SAG mek is an ap2 pie plate, then grab the tankbustas and lootas.
If you like spending money or aren't bad at converting there are all flavors of artillery.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works. |

Well, I've heard that Ork Boyz are awesome. I think that a mob of 20 with sluggas wouls handle most threats. But maybe I could cut that down to 10, and have another 10 Shoota Boyz in a Trukk?

That's another dilemna in itself though. Small groups of boyz gget punished hard by morale checks. And just throwing them in a truck could hurt too without eavy armor. Youll be spending more points on smaller units gets less results.
Just some of my input. The boys can be awesome if they can get stuck in with some messy units, but one trukk explosion or failed morale and your allies are done for.

You could make use of something crazy like meganobz with Grotsnik in a wagon/truck. This way you don't really need WAAAGH to utilise the guyz to full potential.
Another option could be a DLS Megaboss/Megamek in a battlewagon with a bunch of boyz. They also don't need WAAAGH.
This battlewagon units are solid but need support and target satuaration as a battlewagon ain't nearly as durable as it seems to be with HUGE av12 sides and being opentopped.
A few Koptas could always be useful.
Orks also have great artillery units.

For anti-MEQ and light vehicules I would suggest koptas or buggies with rokkits, kustom mega kannons mek gunz and more boyz.
Something like this would be good :
Ork allies - 500 pts
HQ
Painboy, bosspole - 55
TROOPS
30 Boyz, sluggas, Nob with PK and BP - 220
FAST ATTACK
2 deffkoptas with rokkits - 60
HEAVY
5 mek gunz, KMKs, 5 ammo runtz - 165
