Pile of Necron Spare Parts

 jah-joshua wrote:
this guy is still one of my favorite conversions...
sorry for the poor 6 year old photos

the mix of space marine, catachan, and necromunda parts really worked well for a battered urban fighter...

this guy is my all-time favorite conversion, 'cause he looks like a stock model...
he is 22 different parts, from sources such as the inquisitor tech-priest, the iron warriors, space wolves, plastic dread, and necron destroyer...
he was built way back in '01, so the only source for the pointing powerfist was the chaos marines...
the star and the exhaust pipes were carved off, and the spot where the star was scrapped off got covered with a crux terminatus from the dread...
the chest is from the iron warriors bitz...
the shoulder pads are from the land raider sprue...
the head is a sergeant from the regular marine box, as well as the legs...
the scroll and skull on his shin are carved from a dread sarchophagus...
the bolter is from a special edition captain...
the icon on his belt if from the inquisitor tech-priest...
the big purity seal on his chest is from the dread...
the knife is from the space wolves(with the little wolf skull carved off, then the knife was flipped around, and a new skull added)...
the backpack is from the black library limited edition leonatus...
and finally, the necron is a destroyer head and spine...

thanks for lookin'...

cheers
jah

Ah, gotta love the huge "PHOTOBUCKET WON'T LET PEOPLE SEE THIS 'CAUSE IT'S A JERKWAD" images.

People, don't host on Photobucket. It's terrible. If they're wargaming photos, host here on Dakka. If they're general, use Deviantart or Imgur or something.

Been a while since I've done something that could be considered "just" a conversion (too much scratch-building).

But I'm very pleased with this one so certainly qualifies for my "best" conversion model... for now.

Starting with the SDE wolfrider miniature, I converted it to a model of San from the anime Princess Mononoke (where the inspiration obviously came from).

Much carving, gap-filling, sculpting with putty, and a scratch-build display base.

Separate from the base:

Blood Angel Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

I always meant to post in this thread so I'll post one of my first real conversions that's worth mentioning.
I think he was a Catachan Sgt, genericized him by removing all the Imperial symbols (belt and canteen). I don't think he had a gun when I got him so I pinned up that one (got magnets to go in the pinholes now so any gun or blade can work) and chopped the chainblade for a power machete.. or more like falchion here. And of course shaved down the dome to give him some stylish headgear.

And my most recent conversion, a Goliath or perhaps bounty hunter. The hands needed just slight tweaks to get the fingers sitting on triggers. Those Goliath heads are quite lacking when you don't have any extra necks, I had to build most of that, then made the chinstrap/neck guard thing like it appears in the book. Also added strap holsters and some gubbins after smoothing some of the shackles and removing any Khorne symbols.
For the guy on the right, he isn't done but I went ahead and sculpted/carved a the back of the skull and neck and cleaned off the Khorne scarring.

Come with me if you want to live.
Wait, what?

What a wonderful and inspirational thread this is.

I tend to convert/change most of the models I use. Recently I finished a couple of units for my Guard army. Using victory highlander miniatures I couldn't be without kilted Ratlings and a kilted Marbo.

Currently working on orks. And hope to finally finish some of the massive ork conversions I've made. The one I like best is "Da Megabeast" a massive ork bomber. Has yet to be finished, but here are some shots.

Thanks. Zarakynel is rather plain as far as thirty-foot tall six-boobed monstrous sex-daemons go, it's kinda crazy how much more She 'pops' with the addition of probably less than $2 worth of chain and a working knowledge of shibari.

I didn't know whether She would even qualify as a conversion when I posted her here, so I'm glad She seems to be being somewhat well-received.

How did you adjust the limbs on these guys? Cut them at the joints and reconfigure with wire, then fill in the gaps with greenstuff? I'm about to attempt my first repose, so I'm looking for tips, and these are fantastic.
