Well, gents, I've been on a roll - I painted my DAK in under two weeks (I just need to update the thread with a pic of the finished army - http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/635385.page) and I turned my attention to my Fallschirmjager. I had about half of these guys basecoated for a while now, but kept adding figs. Last week I decided I had enough Fallschirmjager figs that I might as well paint them all, as I easily have enough for 1000 or 1500 point games. I haven't made a strict list yet as I was just kind of collecting the FJ for scenario as well as points value play, versus my DAK where I wanted specific army lists ready to pull out whenever. Here's the tally:
Officer
Forward Observer
Medic
6 infantry w/ SMG
4 LMG teams (8)
6 infantry w/ Assault Rifle
15 infantry w/ rifles
Medium Mortar Team
2x MG42 MMG team
Sniper team
Panzerschreck team
Flamethrower team
10.5cm LG40/1 recoilless rifle
Pak 40 anti-tank gun
2cm Flak 38 Flakvierling (quad)
Kettenkrad
Some trucks
(additionally, I also have tons of armor and transport I can always add in when making army lists, but I didn't specifically paint for the Fallschirmjager: Stug III, four Panzer IV, three Panthers, Panzer III, Wespe, three 251/1 C, 251/10, Flammpanzerwagen, refit Flakpanzer T-34, Jagdpanzer IV, Puma, and more I'm forgetting)
Since the beginning of the week, I primed and painted all of the infantry models and dipped them (strong tone) yesterday. I still have yet to paint a few things like the flame on the flamethrower (would look weird with the AP strong tone), and vehicles like the trucks or the Kettenkrad - or the Flakvierling w/ crew, as I discovered it was missing a part when I went to assemble it last weekend and I'm waiting on the replacement part. (I also have Oberst Steiner but I somehow managed to misplace him). I plan on getting the infantry based this weekend and hopefully sprayed with AP Anti-Shine.
anyway, let me know what you guys think so far! After I finish up the FJ, I'm thinking of doing British Airborne or Italian Paracadutisti next!

Looks good. I would have put some dark brown, or dark green, 'rain drops' on the camo, but I reckon they will look very nice on the tabletop.

Thanks! I actually painted them lighter on purpose than my source material because of the darkness of the strong done dip - but the flash washed everything out. I've noticed that a single source flash will just kill anything that's glossy (due to the dip). They are definitely darker in person. Once I get them based and sprayed with Anti-Shine, I will take a pic with no flash and with white ambient lighting.
I used the image on this website as my source: http://www.militarymodelling.com/forums/postings.asp?th=23796
and tried to color match using AP and Vallejo colors.
But, yes, I absolutely did paint for speed and the "three foot rule" - so they look good from three feet away (so slightly larger than normal camo splotches, etc, so your eye can see the camo at a distance on the figs)

Here's my complete Fallschirmjager force on display at the local game store!
Just got the replacement parts for the Flakvierling so that is the only thing that is not present in this picture.

They are fantastic. I love the fall foliage on the bases.

Agreed. The foliage really sets them off nicely. What is it that youused there?

Lemme see...
Gale Force Nine Winter/Dead Static Grass
Silflor autumn leafy tufts (4mm and 6.5mm) http://www.sceneryexpress.com/Leafy-Tufts/products/1277/
Gale Force Nine Autumn 3 Colour Clump Foliage Mix
Then a few random Secret Weapon Leaf Litter autumn leaves
I really wanted the bases to contrast with the heavily camouflaged FJ, so I thought, well, Autumn! Let's orange up all that junk.
