I'm looking to run a 15mm historical campaign set in either 1?70's-80's Africa and south america with my gamer group.
I need advice on immersive rules: does anyone know of a set of campaing that would allow me to simulate running a force ie food, upkeep, reinforcements ect and works with 15mm?
For the main rule set we are using flames of war but I would like to include elements such as cost in replacing or repairing up to date equipment like T-55's and-or 72's and the issue with losing elite forces like republican guard. Ideally players will start off with a army and have to make tough choices as the campaign progresses.
Sorry for the spiel! If not I may have to write and modify my own.

Peter Pig do some;

but I'm guessing you would have much more choice in 20mm/1/72 scale.

Just as cheap but a more popular scale for historical. You will find allot of Cold War era vehicles about

Got a lot of 15mm scenery...so probably sticking with that scale sadly.

Of course Battlefront have quite allot of kit covered in the Arab-Israili conflict lines too. Allot of that would have been in at least partial use in Africa over the last half a century.

It's not so much the mini's as I'm going to use QRF and PP
It's more the RPG-campaign rule elements I am after.

I've been looking into those. I wouldn't mind a more wider range though...I don't mind mixing and matching rules...campaign from one, rules from another ect
Thanks guys

It depends on what size force you use. For small (i.e. Squad) size, you could look into FiveCore.

How to paint Skeletons the way I do if that's something you'd fancy trying.

Platoon level...say 40men, trucks and a tank...I want to base on pennies. I'm giving serious though to just writing my own...but I'd rather use or modify existing rule sets

Another shout for AK47, I haven't yet played a game but a few people I know play it often and claim it is one of the most fun games ever made.

Peter Pig games are nothing if not creative in terms of how they approach the mechanics.

Thanks for the advice guys...ended up writing my own rules...time will tell once a playtest. Rather than start a new thread want to ask another question:

Anyone got any links to really cool images of 15mm narco-guerrilla models paint jobs. Got some PP and QRF mini's I want to paint up and want to see someone else's job as inspiration

I'd suggest you potentially look at Force On Force/Ambush Alley - the rules are scenario driven rather than points based, and there is a scenario book specifically for Africa - as its not points based, but objective based the rules tend to give you a little more of a 'storytelling' feel.

Do not, whatsoever, try AK47 Republic from Peter Pig. I'm serious. Don't bother even trying it. But when you do, know that I warned you it was a waste of time.

Those rules are garbage, and you are better off literally writing your own rules.

A friend bought it for my group to try, and it's the only wargaming book he had to return. It's really that bad.

Thanks again for all your feedback. Going to sit down this weekend and read through all the rule books that you suggested and have arrived or are available legally online and use bits from all of them. I'm painting up my 'revolution' to get me in the mood.
We are running a campaign with a map (tiles) simple rules for attacking and defending scenario's based around an old necromunda campaign I ran in terms of locations and income. Just name changes. Eventually want to incorporate prope guerilla warfare
Time will tell!
