I've noticed a lot of 5 tyrant lists cropping up. I'm wondering what the biggest weaknesses of a 5 tyrant list are and how to deal with it best using the various armies. I'm also wondering what that list excels at so as not to play to their strengths if I come across it.

Thank you for your help

Ground presence for scoring objectives is one of their weaknesses. And they're not that great in mellee when the opponent has potent assaulters capable of catching a flyrant the moment it lands.

Fxeni has shown pretty well how Greentide is hard to deal with for flyrant spam in his LVO batrep. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/635005.page

All five Tyrants firing firing at Necron Warriors will kill an average of ten of them, so yes, decent ground troops are definitely an issue. They also seriously dislike T8 models, as it takes all five to drop a Wraithlord, and two round of undisturbed firing to take down a Wraithknight.

So how would they best handle a T8 monster?

All Tyranid players I know use the strategy of "Avoid the Wraithknight like a plague"

Its going to do whats its going to do, work around it.

Aftermath can be calculated.

Enjoyed the moment at a recent tournament where a tyranid player decided not to jink from my wraithknight. I rolled a six. Followed by a six.

The right Tau list can table a 5 tyrant list pretty easily. A skyray can one shot a tyrant, and Buffmander with either suites or Broadsides will kill a tyrant a turn, and isn't going to take much damage back.

Wraith Knight are a good counter to 5 tyrants. Certain dark eldar builds can deal with 5 tyrants. Necrons can easily survive against 5 Tyrants. Its a Rock Paper Scissors list, but so is any other Tyranid list. Its on par with Serpent Spam or Ad Lance, you either have the tools or you don't. If you don't you can sometimes outscore them anyways.
