Im a recenlty new tau player. Ive bin playing with tau for a fewonths now and I am inlove with army. Im looking into getting real competitive with them now and want to know whick builds or unit do well against other armies and there units. For example a riptide vs deamon prince. Or the farsite crisis team troop build against....IG.
Let me know what you guys think.
Also I plan on making a FW order soon so this may help my buy. I already have a set of the 109s, 107s, and 4 tetras which are doing quite well. So help me out folks!

actually, consider something like Longstrike against kitted CC units and models. A hammerhead with Longstrike, flechette dischargers, and a Disruption Pod is going to make a bad day against just about anything.
Skyrays are a decent choice, the Hunter Cadre dataslate is full of win, and allows more heavy choices in your force. Beyond that, it is ultimately up to you - the FW Riptides? R'alai? others?
Lastly, have you played with an ethereal in a devilfish with d-pods? call it mobile cover for your suits, and with a buffer of your choice as well.
If you go pathfinders, get an Aegis. Get a Culexus or two as well. Magnetize your suits. make all your drones into marker drones, or magnetize them as well.

The best cost-effective markerlight platforms are Tetras.
The best flyer is the Barracuda.
Commander and Ethereal are the best HQs, followed by Farsight and Shadowsun. The others aren't even close. (R'alai has his uses, though)
Hammerhead FW turrets are bad options; maybe the skyfire TL missile turret, but a Sky Ray does that better.
Riptide with HBC is only good if you get the ECPA relic from Farsight Enclaves.
Crisis are your main unit - be sure to use lots of them.
Broadsides with HRR are very limited. HYMP are more useful.
AV 13-14: Crisis with Fusion Blasters, XV109 Y'vahra, R'alai
AV12-: HYMP, Crisis with Missile Pods
T6 3+: Crisis with Plasma Rifles or Fusion Blasters
T4 3+: Crisis with Plasma Rifles
T3 4+: Crisis with Missile Pods
Hordes: Flamers, Fire Warriors
AA: Sky Ray, Barracuda, Riptide with VT, Broadsides with HYMP and VT

Can't go wrong with the longstrike railhead. I would say it's one of the best units in the game and can be used in most matches. Always pay the 5 points extra though for the large blast though.

This list really fething helps thats a lot.
My local meta is now being over run by fireraptors. Its nuts ! I was thinking of getting the tigetigershark.k (the one with out the rage D guns) to deal with them but idk how good that would be.

Tigersharks are too expensive... they cost 3 Fire Raptors.
Pack AA on your Broadsides (they'll have 2+ vs FR shot, and only the missiles can ID them) and/or EWO+VT with HBC Riptide + ECPA (Farsight Enclaves) (be sure to activate its Nova HBC option before the FR comes)
But the best at all is a Sky Ray. Focus your markerlights on the FR and let the Sky Ray fire its missiles at BS5 ignoring its jink!

I think I got a list of what I might run. Im thing about using the Drone Sentry Turrets as my troop choice Since they are 30pt each with allows me to bring in a lot more heavy stuff.

The problem is that the turrets have a rule that cannot be chosen as the obligatory 2 troops in a CAD or the 1 troop in an allied detachment. You'll need at least 2 fire warriorsand/or kroot (or crisis, if farsight enclaves) per CAD before adding the turrets

damn. IM probably going to go FE. Run 3×crisis team with missle pods as troops. A riptide. 3xsets of tetras. 2 sky rays. And the FBCS
