Hey folks,

I know a lot of you have seen the artwork from Icarus Miniatures, but were wondering how the sculpts would hold up.

Well, I'm proud to show off our first 3D sculpt, Gabriel Cross, the bounty hunter:

I'm incredibly pleased with how the sculpt has come out, and as you can see below, it's really faithful to the original art work, which bodes well for the rest of our sculpts.

If you'd like to see more of the options available with the sculpt, you can check out our blog.

I'd love to hear what you think?

Very nice. I'm seeing influences of Dead Space's Isaac, ME3 Cerberus troops and a small amount of Halo. Quite nice.

Really bang up stuff. Great transition from art to model.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Looks great only feed back i can give is to maybe move the mags for his side arm to his non dominant thigh .at the moment he would be holding his sidearm with his right hand and then having to look down and bend forward and across his body to reach for another magazine if they were on his left thigh he only has to move his hand slightly and slide one out and transition it up to his other hand ( something the body can always do fast and without looking )

I was wondering when we'd finally be seeing some miniature renders. Looks good. I'm guessing the final product will be metal or resin? I like the designs and wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few of them in 28mm form. Not that I don't already have a bunch of hard sci-fi minis or anything, but what's a few more, eh?

That's not going to be so pretty at 28mm.
Detail is far too fine; it'll require perfect casting to come out properly, and then it'll be extremely hard to paint.

Needs prototypes printing, checking and I'd think at least 2 rounds of revision.

I disagree. If Corvus Belli can do it, why can't another? Rocket Games, who did similar figures seemed quite capable of getting that degree of detail as well.

Some of the detail will be small, but modern 3D printers can handle that detail.

CB does sculpt their stuff chunkier than what's shown here though, as does Rocket.

What's likely to happen is you have some wasted detail, stuff that shows up in the print and when held up close, but otherwise are details that would be too difficult to paint or see at tabletop gaming distance.

That said, I'm not sure if this is 28mm or not, just depends on whether that base it's on is 25mm-30mm or if it's just a placeholder.

Yep, if that resolves in casting with the detail it has in design, I'm sold.

That base is just a placeholder, yes. The piece is more 32mm scale than 28, so will be a little bigger anyway.

It will be being printed next week, so we'll see what the detail is like then; but the sculpt, printing, and final casting is all being handled by Prodos Games.

I have total faith that the mini will look amazing. The work they've been doing (especially some of the AvP) stuff is outstanding.

I'll be sure to update when we get the print in hands though
