So what's the deal with chunk loaders?

I've been testing them out the last couple of days and they don't load til someone visits the chunks to load them first and get them started. I've claimed chunks and used it to chunk load some areas, then I even put a chunk loading ward in the chunk I want loaded. Neither will load with the server, and if I log in in a different area they still don't load.

am I missing something? will the chunk loader from IC2 work? is there a way to load chunk with the server so I can move into a void dimension and not have to worry about my reactor in the real world and running out of power?

If I can't load the chunks reliably then there could be a draconic reactor built under spawn, as long as no one plays with it, it shouldn't explode

Dakkanit could just seal it in a bed rock reactor chamber?

Kinda have some power output lines etc. But only a creative mode player could access the machines core?

No, because Ralphy would need to access it from time to time for maintenance. I suggested IC2 Reinforced stone and doors for it, as that should contain a blast. Another thing is he could seal the entrance, and use a teleportation device to get in and out of the area, that way it looks like natural landscape, and less likely to be disturbed.

That might contain some blast energy, layer it a few thick maybe for extra reinforcement and armour.
Yeah, can always hide it below ground or a larger hillside etc.

Also compressed stone on some mods at highest level has a consistenty to wistand wither attacks and blasts.
So there's a few materials that have some heavy duty blast and assault resistance that could be layered into a nice solid composite armour capable of taking mob attack up to a wither.


A remote power module, can mean no weak point for the wire lines or security.
Anyway, no wires I know can handle the output of the draconic reactor. Max maybe 10k RF a tick output handling.

Nothing like the 550k or higher capacity. Nothing else could handle that degree of power.

a crystabalized flux duct is infinite RF and the draconic power crystals are over 1 million for a basic one.

I then beam the power into a bank of 30 capacitors, then send off the power through dimensional tranceivers in 40k chunks to various machines.

if you use the end portal at my place you can see the machine setups and I would condense it and put it under the draconic infusion room at spawn and then power that as well.

I'm not on the FTB.
I'm on regular, I admit I'm more a middling amateur engineer when it comes to such things. I can build jet packs RF tools and such. Nothing quite on your level of design.

I know how to build solid things, rig up basic RF, and the basic auto furnaces, enginizers, power cells and rig up a solid wiring network.

I know the theory of things but I cannot put them into practical design however on high end tech.

why reinvent the wheel and figure it out yourself, when it's already been min/maxed and a step by step guide is already made

Aye. My attempts with nuclear reactor design where less than successful at first!
A big reactor, well if you build the cooling system on nuclear power things kinda get exploded and erase alot of things..

I left that to youtube afterwards.

You need at least 8G of ram, allowing 4G for minecraft.

OK, not a option then. i got 4 gig max total.

Mooshrooms and Ocelots

So SirRalphy wanted some Mooshrooms and Ocelots, but was having difficulty finding the correct biomes.

Turns out Biomes o Plenty does have a tool for searching for biomes. If you get one of each BoP gem from around the overworld, plus some resources from the end, you can search for the biome you need using the Biome Finder.

It even works (which is not always guaranteed in these modpacks):


I'm not going to just say where the island is, but I'll give a clue for those who don't want to go to the trouble of making a biome finder:


Now, finding Ocelots was a bit more tricky:



In fact searching for Jungles, and the various Biomes o Plenty Rainforest variants in a 40000 block radius turned up zero results!

As I think travelling more than 40000 blocks for an ocelot (and then having to capture it and ensure it survives) is a bit extreme, I've set up a trading station at spawn instead:


It costs one emerald block for an ocelot spawn egg.

Great clue, and thanks for the spawn machine. I'm one step closer to moving to my own peaceful world

Seems my PC not up to FTB server. But I swear some older mods had things like a golden lqssoo that could capture a passive mod, one use trap nets that act lime spawn eggs etc.

Not every animal needs to be hauled in walking mode id those mods in.

40,000 blocks? Damn, no wonder it was impossible to find vines.

Also, apparently Curse has become Twitch. I hate this.

Had to reinstall the modpack a third time because the new curse-turned-into-twitch program is too damn stupid to find either of my previous installs. Even though this new install now requires the folder to be named "FTB Presents Direwolf20 1.10 (2)" because it's installing it in to the EXACT DAMN PLACE as the other ones. Goddamn twitch is the dumbest thing ever....

Heh. Yeah, vines. I straight up just said "Nope" to trying to find them- just Botania'd some up out of lilypads.

Vines also grow in swamps, and they're growing at spawn now.

JHE90, I use soul vials and golden lassos to haul mobs around. but you still need to find one or two first.

I was up on my Highlands plateau island, and didn't want to boat all the way back to spawn.

Are there any mods that will remove water sources? Like draining a large lake, or in my case the inside of a boat

Most of them

IC2 has a pump
RFtools has a pump module
Extra Utilities 2 has a pump upgrade
and Ranged Pumps, well that mod sounds like it might do what it says on the tin...

This is not an exclusive list. I'm sure Blood Magic and Botania also have some over complicated means of doing it too

I'm not sure those REMOVE water blocks-or, more accurately, they remove them slowly enough that the water just fills back in.

Enderthermic pumps work but they replace it water with stone.
So if it works on area you might fill area about ship with stone if on too long.
They not cheapest pumps but seen fairly fast and can dump water into barrels with tubes.

I'll look into that when I can log back in, something weird is going on with my account right now. I can deal with stone, it's in the middle of a large ocean so anything outside would fill back in. Plus I could silk touch the stone to use for the hull. Thanks for suggesting them.

Might take a avit of investment to build one, but there reusable, use RF power so that's pretty universal.

Also do same for lava which can be handy to have....

Can someone give me a list of blocks I need to start AE? Gonna probably see if I can add a low-level AE storage to my setup.

Pretty sure I know I need three blocks (controller, power accepter, and the crafting table one) but probably need more. It's been a loooooong time.
